Dear Huskie Community,
We are looking forward to parent/teacher conferences on October 10 and 11. As many of you have likely noticed, parent/teacher conferences are 10 minutes this fall. If you have been around, you will remember they have traditionally been 5 minutes at Naperville North. Naperville Central has always had 10 minute conferences. Last spring, due to requests from teachers and the community, we tried 10 minute conferences for the first time. The feedback from the staff and community was generally positive. The one issue we did hear about is that the increased time does limit the total number of appointments a teacher can schedule and some teacher's schedules filled up. If you are having trouble scheduling a time during conferences, please reach out directly to the teacher for feedback on your student.
This week, Naperville 203, in conjunction with District 204 and community police departments, sent out a shared message on threats in our schools. Threats can be to other individuals or to a school. I want to reiterate a few important items from that shared message and remind everyone that student chromebooks are monitored by software 24 hours a day. We have seen an increase in 'jokes' in emails, documents, social media, and online messaging between students. Please have conversations with your student about the seriousness and inappropriateness of these types of 'jokes' and remind them to not write, post, or repost such material. Please also remind them to report anything that may threaten the safety of our schools. We want our schools to be safe places to learn where all students feel they belong and are comfortable.
Finally, I would like to invite you to the SFCP Parent 2 Parent College Admissions Night on Thursday, October 3. Details about this terrific event are below. Hope to see you there!
I hope you have a wonderful week. Go Huskies!
Sincerely,
Jay Wachtel
