Early Release Tomorrow, May 24 @ 11:30
Dear Cumberland Families,
It's been another fantastic week here at Cumberland, filled with laughter, learning, and lots of excitement. Our ABC theme days continue to bring joy and creativity to our school community. This week, we had a blast celebrating Joke Day, where students and staff showcased their humor with some hilarious jokes over the PA. The giggles and smiles echoing through the hallways were truly contagious! Lounge Day, sometimes known as Pajama Day, is always a favorite too-- among students and staff!
In other exciting news, we are thrilled to share that the results from our Belongingness Survey and our DESSA assessment are in! An overwhelming 97 percent of our students self- reported feeling a strong sense of belongingness within our school community, which is incredibly heartwarming to hear. Additionally, our DESSA results indicate that the majority of our students scored within the typical and strengths range, highlighting their social-emotional well-being and resilience within the eight DESSA social-emotional competencies.
These results are a testament to the dedication and hard work of our staff, as well as the support and involvement of our entire school community. It's truly inspiring to see the positive impact of our collective efforts on the well-being and academic success of our students. As we continue to prioritize the academic and social-emotional development of our students, we remain committed to fostering a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and empowered to thrive.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership in creating a nurturing and enriching learning experience for our students. Together, we are building a brighter future for all our Cumberland scholars!
Based on family survey results, we will have parents/guardians select their preferred day and time for Prep for Success once teacher assignments are available in August. Please see additional information in the flyers below.
We wish you a lovely long weekend and we will see students back on Tuesday after the Memorial Day holiday.
Warm regards,
Jayne Heffron and Rebecca Salomon
