Kindergarten Fun With Our Lunch/Recess Leaders
Lunch/Recess Leaders Teaching How to Compost and Recycle
Principal Update
Dear Hubbard Woods Families,
Happy Halloween! Please note, for those picking up their child/ren to change into costumes at lunch, our lunchtime is 11:30-12:20. Students should return promptly at 12:20. Our Kindergarten students should come to school in costume and will parade on the playground at 9. Our 1st- 4th students will change at lunch or immediately after lunch to parade beginning at 1:15.
If it is raining, we, unfortunately, will have to cancel the outdoor portion of our parade. It will not be possible to have all of our families indoors. We will try to send a video of the indoor parade.
Thank you to the families that participated in the Fall Clean-up! We appreciate all of your hard work.
Throughout the month of October, the readers of Hubbard Woods School once again have been participating in the Global Read Aloud. GRA provides an opportunity for learners of all ages to connect with each other to discuss a commonly shared text. Having conversations centered on understanding, acceptance, and empathy with others can be a great way to make connections outside of the classroom. Participating in the Global Read Aloud is a way for students to have these experiences while interacting with high-quality literature. In grades K-2 students and teachers are participating in the picture book author study which cycles through six different books by author Christian Robinson. Grades 3 & 4 dive into Stuntboy, in the Meantime by Jason Reynolds. Each week readers connect with partner classrooms all over the country to reflect, wonder, notice and question the action taking place in the books. Check out a brief video below showcasing just a few of these connections in action.
Have a great week.
Sincerely,
Beth Carmody

Introduction to Text-for-Help/Raising a Drug-Free Teen - An Operating Manual for Perplexed Parents
Andy Duran, CEO of LEAD
Teens who don't drink or use drugs say that the number one reason they have made that choice is you! Talking with your teen about difficult topics is both one of the hardest and one of the most important things we will ever do as a parent. We at LEAD hope to help you with these conversations.
What are you already doing right? Where could you maybe use additional support? No matter what questions you come in with - and whether you are a parent in need of guidance or simply a community stakeholder interested in the issues facing our teens - we'd love to see you there.

Maneuvering the ever-changing landscape of technology, social media, and phones for students is a daunting task for any parents.
