Student Report
Francis Cooper, Student Representative, presented his final monthly report: click here for a copy of the report; Mr. Cooper was presented with a $500 check from the Board for his participation as student representative for the past school year - kudos and congratulations to Mr. Cooper; additionally, the new 2024-25 Student Representative, Addison Zimmerman, was introduced to everyone - welcome Addison.
Showcase a School
Chippewa Valley High School
Dave Schaller, Chippewa Valley High School (CVHS) Principal, provided an overview of the GEDO 2 Graduation Pathway that is offered at CVHS. The GEDO 2 started in Chippewa Falls during the 2012-13 school year and currently accounts for roughly half of the graduates each year at CVHS. The GED includes four tests: math reasoning, reasoning through Language Arts, social studies, and science. The tests are all scored out of 200 points. A 145 score is passing; a 165 score indicates college ready; and a 175 indicates college ready and earns credits. Over the past five years, the GEDO 2 graduation rates have steadily increased. 62% of the CVHS graduates for the 2023-24 school year went through the GEDO 2 pathway; click here for the CVHS presentation.
Halmstad Elementary School
Halmstad Elementary School has been the model school for the Conscious Discipline program for the last few years and shows that these concepts support student growth and adult well-being. Ryan Lowe, Halmstad Principal, invited board members, administration, and attendees to play a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors Extreme as a community building activity, which is used in Halmstad classrooms. Amanda Bjornson, Halmstad Special Education teacher, shared examples of breathing activities, classroom jobs, Wish Well boards, etc. that are used in her classroom. Britny Gabert, EMLSS Coordinator, shared that all elementary schools will attend a 2-day intensive training in November 2024 to be trained in Conscious Discipline; click here for the Halmstad presentation.

School Solar Project: Adopt-a-Panel
The Chippewa Falls Senior High School Green Teams are working on an Adopt-A-Panel school solar project that would include a 128 panel solar array system and would be located across the street from the high school on Coleman Street. The Green Team and CFAUSD will be working to rezone a school-owned residential lot to allow for the solar panels to be placed and will apply for special use permits through the city. In the meantime, the Green Team plans to begin fundraising for the project. Their goal is to raise $45,000 and would ask the District to contribute $50,714. The Green Team 1.0 is Isabella Biederman, Kamryn Glamman, and Maddie Hunt. The Green Team 2.0 is Elizabeth Crosby, Chloe Johnson, and Zoey Eckwright - GT 2.0 are hoping to get the Adopt-A-Panel project completed prior to their graduation in 2026; the Board agreed to allow Green Team 2.0 to begin fundraising for the solar panel project; click here for more details and to view the Green Team presentation.
Consideration of Potential Naming Rights for Booster Club Fitness Center
Trevor Bohland, Booster Club President, provided information regarding potential naming rights for the future booster club fitness center. The booster club plans to begin seeking donations from the community in the next few months; the Board agreed to allow the Chippewa Falls High School Athletics Booster Club to negotiate naming rights for the facility subject to the school board reserving revocation rights for cause; click here for more details.
Consideration of Video Board Agreement between the Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District and the Chippewa Falls Senior High School Athletic Booster Club
Mike Thompson, Chi-Hi Activities & Athletic Director, shared information about the Daktronics Video Board that the Booster Club would like to have installed in the Chippewa Falls Senior High School gym at no cost to the District. The video board would be utilized during sporting events, school assemblies, and the high school’s Media Productions class; the Board approved the Video Board Agreement between the Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District and the Chippewa Falls Senior High School Athletic Booster Club and authorized Chad Trowbridge to execute the contract as presented; click here for more details.
Consideration of Pupil Non-Discrimination Report
Chris McMasters, Executive Director of Student Services, provided an overview of the pupil non-discrimination report. This year, DPI required all Wisconsin school districts to complete the pupil non-discrimination report and recieve Board approval, which occurred; click here for more details.
Consideration of Policy 2413: Health Education
The Board approved Neola's recommended revision of policy 2413 as written with the caveat to correct "District Administrator" to "Superintendent" within the policy; click here for more details.
Consideration of Compensation Ad hoc Committee Meeting Notes
The Board approved the meeting notes as presented and Sharon McIlquham, Ad hoc Committee Chairperson, provided an overview of the compensation ad hoc committee meeting notes for May 6 and May 13. The committee plans to meet one more time prior to the compensation scale going to the full Board for consideration; click here for more details.

Jennifer Starck, Executive Director of Human Resources & Public Relations, provided an overview of three options to consider for the support staff compensation scale; the Board will make a determination on which compensation scale to utilize at their June regular board meeting; click here for more details.

2024 Wallace E Zastrow Award & Zastrow Award Scholarship
Jeff Holmes, Superintendent of Schools, recognized Chad Trowbridge as the 2024 Wallace E. Zastrow Award recipient. The award was presented on May 17, 2024 at the WASBO Spring Conference. The award recognizes Mr. Trowbridge for his leadership in schools, the profession, and his community as well as his commitment to providing professional development for his peers. Mr. Trowbridge also had the privilege of presenting a $1,500 scholarship, sponsored by Community Insurance Corporation, to a 2024 graduating senior in the Chippewa Falls Area Unified School District. He awarded the scholarship to Ana Trowbridge, a 2024 graduate. After high school graduation, Ana intends to attend UW-Green Bay where she is planning to major in Finance.

Jeff Holmes, Superintendent of Schools, and Sue Kern, Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction, provided an overview of the Academic and Career Planning Annual Review.
