September 20th 2024 Principal's Message
Hello Blevins Families,
We've had another great week at Blevins, especially so with the return of Bruin Club. We have seen an incredible number of students join our many available clubs, Monday through Thursday, this week. If your child is interested, there is a one-time Permission Form available in our front office.
I'd like to invite you to a Community Engagement event in the Blevins Auditeria on Wednesday, 2:40-4:40pm, regarding the mill levy ballot measure. Superintendent Brian Kingsley is specifically visiting Blevins to acknowledge the challenges we faced last year regarding district planning and to explain the mill levy. Please feel free to join us. If you would like to learn more about the mill levy, please visit this site: https://www.psdschools.org/community/2024-mill-levy
Thanks for your continued partnership and support of our Blevins Bruins! Please never hesitate to reach out to me and the rest of the team.
Proudly,
Joe Zappa, Principal

Learn More About the November 5th Mill Levy
Dear PSD community:
At their Aug. 27, 2024, meeting, the Poudre School District Board of Education voted unanimously to refer a mill levy question to the Nov. 5, 2024, ballot. This mill levy, if approved by voters, will provide $49 million per year to improve and extend the useful life of the district’s school buildings and will allow the district to reprioritize more of its general fund for the recruitment and retention of teachers and staff, classroom resources, career and technical education, and neighborhood schools.
To ensure that our community has factual information about this mill levy, the district will host a series of community information sessions in September and October. These are open to the public and anyone who wishes to come learn more about the ballot measure and how it would impact the PSD system and our community are welcome. Each session will share the same information.
Information sessions will take place:
- Monday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m., Poudre High School Theater, 201 S. Impala Dr., Fort Collins
- Thursday, Sept. 26, at 5:30 p.m., Fossil Ridge High School Performing Arts Center, 5400 Ziegler Road, Fort Collins
- Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 6 p.m., Timnath Middle-High School Auditorium, 4700 Prospect Road, Timnath
- Thursday, Oct. 3, at 5:30 p.m., Wellington Middle-High School Auditorium, 2856 Cleveland Ave., Wellington
- Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 6 p.m., Rocky Mountain High School Theater, 1300 W. Swallow Road, Fort Collins
- Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 5:30 p.m., Fort Collins High School Theater, 3400 Lambkin Way, Fort Collins
- Thursday, Oct. 17, at 5:30 p.m. at the Future Ready Center inside Foothills mall
The information sessions are being offered for transparency purposes only; these are not campaign events.
Simultaneous interpretation and translation via the district’s Instant Language Assistant (ILA) devices will be available at all sessions. If you would like oral interpretation, please bring wireless headphones that connect to your device to listen to the presentation.
For more information about the mill levy measure, including support and opposition statements, please visit the 2024 Mill Levy webpage on our website: https://www.psdschools.org/community/2024-mill-levy.

Poudre School District

Important October Count Information
October Count is coming on OCTOBER 1st!
(PSD's count window is Sept. 24- Oct 8.)
What is October Count? It is simply making your student count in our education system. Per the Colorado Department of Education:
“The Student October Pupil Enrollment collection contains student enrollment information as of the pupil enrollment count date. This information is used to determine the school demographics, number of students in instructional programs, free and reduced lunch counts, and distribution of school finances across the state.”
Its very important to have your student in school during this time so your student and Blevins are accurately represented. If you have any questions or concerns, please call Melisa Zaug in the front office at 970-488-4044.

If you need support with the cost, there are opportunities provided through EF to help make it more affordable, but these are only accessible once your student is registered.
You can enroll for the trip and save your spot here: www.efexploreamerica.com/2794420AY
8th Grade PSD Career Fair at Colorado State University

This is a great opportunity that is provided to ALL 8th graders throughout the district. More information will be sent out closer to the event.
If your student did not receive this permission slip, they can see Mrs. Zaug in the Front Office to get a copy or there is a form attached as well!
