Caldwell School District Update
From Superintendent Dr. N. Shalene French
August 14, 2024
Message from the Superintendent
Dear Caldwell Families,
We are excited about our upcoming school year! When we reflect upon the history of education in Caldwell and our valued traditions, which predate Idaho's statehood, we are honored to be part of the Caldwell School District community.
We are at the beginning of a new era. Challenges can create barriers or reveal pathways of possibilities. As we forge ahead into the 2024-2025 school year, significant changes have been made in our elementary schools and middle schools. Our purpose for these changes is to create sustainable learning environments where students can develop friendships, cultivate learner competencies, advance academically, and experience a strong sense of community.
It is difficult to see the end from the beginning when change causes us to realign our trajectory. However, we are truly excited about what the future holds for our students and for our community. There is so much to look forward to -
Welcome back to the 2024-2025 school year!
Our Commitment:
We will provide high-quality educational opportunities for all students that foster academic growth and the development of learner competencies that lead to success in post-secondary education and the workplace.

SAFETY UPDATE
School Bus Safety
As we strive to ensure the safety of our students during their daily commute, we want to remind everyone of the importance of stopping for school buses.
- Two-Lane Roads: All vehicles traveling in both directions must stop when a school bus stops to load or unload children.
- Multi-Lane Roads (No Median): All vehicles must stop in both directions.
- Divided Highways (With Median): Only the vehicles behind the school bus must stop; vehicles traveling in the opposite direction are not required to stop but should remain cautious.
- Flashing Lights and Stop Arm: When you see the bus's yellow flashing lights, it means the bus is preparing to stop. Slow down and prepare to stop your vehicle.
- Red flashing lights and an extended stop arm mean children are getting on or off the bus. You must stop and remain stopped until the lights stop flashing, the stop arm is withdrawn, and the bus begins moving again.
- Consequences of Not Stopping: Failing to stop for a school bus can result in severe penalties, including fines and points on your driving record. More importantly, it puts children's lives at risk.
Your vigilance and adherence to these rules ensure that our children can travel safely to and from school each day.
