Message from the Principal
I can't believe first quarter is over in 2 weeks. We will be holding conferences at Gordon Parks from 3:30 - 6:00 on Wednesday, November 6. Please join us to meet your child's teachers, hear about their progress, and enjoy a light dinner. Final grades will be available in Campus by November 15.
Please check in with your child about their attendance. The school day begins at 8:30 and ends at 3:00. Coming every day and on being on time is a big indicator of school success. The goal at Gordon Parks is to get students caught up and on-track to graduate.

Student Climate Survey
Students will be taking a school climate survey next week. The survey consists of 9 questions asking students to give feedback on our school. If you prefer your child not take the survey, please email AP Carter at byron.carter@spps.org.

Are you an SPPS student interested in taking college courses that match your interests and career goals? We invite you to review the course offerings and signup during your high school's course registration process. Students enrolled in this program are exploring high demand, high wage careers. They will spend mornings at their home high school and afternoons at the Districtwide Career Pathway Center, located on the campus of Saint Paul College, completing career-related college courses. Students need to meet the college eligibility requirement for the PSEO course(s) of interest. *Note - Counselor's approval is needed for final enrollment into the program to ensure students can stay on-track to graduate.
Meet our New Gordon Parks Staff Members
We have a number of new staff members at Gordon Parks this school year and each month we will feature one or two of them. This month we are highlighting Libby and Jordan.
Libby Arnosti, MLL Teacher
I grew up in the Saint Paul Public Schools and graduated from Central High School. I have been working in education for 10 years, starting as a bilingual teaching aide in a middle school. From the first time I set foot in a classroom as an educator, I knew that I wanted to spend my career working with young people. Since then, I have taught students of every age from Kindergarten through adults. I value creating a supportive classroom community where students feel genuinely known and cared about, and I love helping young people discover how their life experiences and past learning can help them learn new things and gain confidence. I am excited to be at Gordon Parks getting to know our students in a small learning environment where I can get to know them and help them stay engaged with their goals. Outside of school, one of my true loves is music, and I play the accordion in a band. My 8-month-old son, my husband, and I also spend a lot of time with my family, who also all live in Saint Paul. I love to swim, sail, canoe, and generally be around water and outdoors as much as possible!
Jordan Sisel, Science Teacher
I have been in education since 2016 and teaching in St. Paul since 2020 at Gordon Parks High School and Central High School. I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. I went to college at Tufts University in Boston, MA and graduated with a degree in Chemistry. I attended the UMN-Twin Cities to obtain my Master's Degree in science education. I love living in St. Paul and supporting my local community through science education. In my free time, I enjoy playing with all my pets, learning languages, and going to concerts.
