PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families,
I’m excited to share that we recently had a special visit from the Colorado Shakespeare Festival Education Outreach Program! Partnering with CU’s Center for Violence Prevention, they performed Twelfth Night and led workshops that connected Shakespeare’s work to conversations about bullying prevention and response. Thanks to the generous support of our PTO, our 3rd-5th graders had the opportunity to experience this unique and engaging program.
The actors and their coordinator had nothing but praise for our students and teachers. They visit schools all over the state, and they were especially impressed by how prepared, engaged, and thoughtful our Eagle Crest students were. As I popped into classrooms, I saw firsthand how eager our students were to participate, how polite and insightful their responses were, and how well they connected the workshop lessons to our RISE behaviors.
Moments like these remind me of what makes Eagle Crest such an incredible place—our students’ curiosity and kindness, our teachers’ dedication, and the strong support of our community.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
Warmly,
Amanda

DEAN OF STUDENTS’ UPDATE
Hello Eagle Crest Families!
St. Vrain Valley Schools continues to offer a program for families called St. Vrain Parent University. These monthly classes will address important topics that will support student health and well-being and build a connection between home and school. The classes will be led by experts and are free for all who attend. Spanish interpretation is available by request. Below you will find information on the next three classes. You can read more about each class, register, and sign-up for the mailing list on the St. Vrain Parent University website.
Join us for these upcoming sessions:
Feb. 20th: Adolescent RISE with Nicholas Thompson, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Adolescent RISE is a presentation that takes a fun and informative look at the developmental period of adolescence (ages 10-25). It includes debunking myths about adolescence, understanding the four qualities of adolescence (risk taking, identity formation, social reorientation, and emotional intensity), and learning about the tweenage brain. With this foundation established, ways to better support our kids will be discussed.
April 3rd: Social Competency: Strengthening Social Skills in Children and Adolescents with Zach DePledge, Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Developmentally, social anxiety can often peak in middle school. Learn why social skills correlate with success in life and how to help your child be more socially competent. Explore the role of socialization in well-being, the evolving social needs of children, and how parenting practices can support children’s social identity and confidence.

Volunteer Opportunity for 2025-2026
Funds from restaurant nights help fund movie night and other fun activities. For the past two years, Debi Maguire has volunteered as the restaurant night coordinator, arranging monthly fundraisers at local restaurants. Thank you, Debi! As a mom to a fifth grader, Debi will be moving on next year. PTO is looking for a volunteer to take over the restaurant coordinator role. We anticipate this role taking less than half an hour a week. If interested, please contact secretary@eaglecrestpto.com.

HUG AND GO SAFETY REMINDER
Student safety is our top priority, and we appreciate everyone doing their part to keep drop-off and pick-up running smoothly. A few important reminders for using the Hug and Go lane safely:
🚗 Stay in the right lane – Only let children out on the sidewalk side to avoid them stepping into traffic.
🚗 Keep the flow moving – The Hug and Go lane is for drop-off and pick-up only; if you need to park, please use the parking lot or street parking on Clover Basin.
🚗 Be mindful of crosswalks – Always watch for pedestrians and follow crossing guard directions.
🚗 Car safety matters! – Colorado law recommends that children under 13 ride in the back seat. Please make sure all passengers are safely buckled up.
Thank you for keeping our kids safe and making arrival and dismissal smooth for everyone!
