Good morning everyone and Happy Friday!
At the end of another busy, productive and enjoyable week here at school we certainly have much to be proud of and thankful for. With both our AP’s out at a conference, I would like to thank all our staff for stepping up and helping out in many different ways.
Our School Disco last Friday night was another great success with many cool disco moves on display! Many thanks to Jodi and Danni, and to all those who assisted our P&F to create such a great opportunity for our kids to practise their dance skills and their friendship skills in a safe and fun way! With a heap of new rules and regulations in the last few years, these guys did an amazing job making it a fun, smoothly run event.
Once again Book Week saw us focus on the magic of reading!
It is so important that children see reading as a pleasurable activity and a real option when it comes to choosing what to do with free time. Thanks to all those mums and dads who have joined kids up to the local library, who buy a book on their birthday, who read to them with enthusiasm, who listen to them read, who regularly turn the tv, computers and phones off and model relaxed, reading in the home – awesome work! I am currently enjoying the Lebron James Bio – if you like basketball, it is not a bad read!
Next week is our School Book Fair – please see the details below and try to support your school in growing our library book collection. Every book offers children a door to a new idea, a new adventure, a new learning!
This morning, our wonderful school choir went to entertain a large audience as part of the 2024 Performing Arts Festival and they all looked amazing in their new Bernie's Performing Arts Polos! Congratulations to Mrs Poasa, Ms Flynn, Mrs Hilton and Miss Ryan for preparing the children each week – the time you give, and the care and passion you show for music in our school is a credit to you and very much appreciated. The children gave a fantastic effort, and we are all so proud of them.
This Saturday our Year Six students receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. We congratulate each of them on their decision to recommit to their faith commitment and to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit to support them to be good people in the world.
Next week is our annual Father’s Day Stall – please read below for more details. While it is hard to believe that Father’s Day is upon us again, it really is a special date on both the school and home calendars! Many thanks to Linda, Erin, Tracey and Sophie for all your work in providing this terrific opportunity for kids to buy something relatively inexpensive for their dad. Anecdotally, it is a time of high excitement for the children as they carefully select their gift!
Have a great weekend everyone. With kids’ footy and netball trainings and games drawing to a close, hopefully there will be a little bit more time for families to get out and find some good parks, walk trails or bike rides to do together!
