Week of September 3
Grateful for Grandparents
Elementary campuses across SMCISD celebrated Rattler Grandparents on Thursday and Friday with sock hops, Bingo night and luncheons. This Sunday we wish all Rattler extended family members a Happy Grandparents Day! It takes a village to raise a kid and we are grateful for the love, wisdom, and joy you bring to our students' lives.
#988 Lifeline
The month of September is National Suicide Prevention Month. The 988 Lifeline is a national network of local crisis centers that provides free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the United States. If you or a loved one is in need of crisis services, please call. Together we can advance suicide prevention by empowering individuals, advancing professional best practices, and building awareness.
Friday Night Lights & TXST Tailgate
The Friday Night Lights returned to San Marcos Toyota Field on Friday, September 6, as the Rattlers hosted the Wolves of Pflugerville Weiss. The night included a pre-game Tailgate for new SMCISD teachers, Texas State State residents, and new teachers, Fine Art performances and Little Rattler Night!
The Rattlers return to action this Friday, September 13, as the Wagner Thunderbirds come to town. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30PM at San Marcos Toyota Rattler Stadium and the Rattlers invite all First Responders to the game to be honored during First Responders Night.
Bears are Building their Educational Foundation
The Bonham Bears were actively involved in their learning this week in and around the school's library, exploring concepts with curiosity and enthusiasm.
Bonham's mission this year is, "We cultivate a safe, loving environment by nurturing and advocating for the diverse needs of our students and families. We value play, inclusivity, and the joy of learning for lifelong success of all students. PLAY, LEARN, GROW: FUTURES START HERE!"
Join Our Team and Drive the Future!
The San Marcos Transportation Department is hosting a Ride & Drive event on Saturday, September 14 at Toyota Rattler Stadium. This opportunity is open to anyone 18 years or older interested in joining the Rattler faculty by earning their CDL license. Come put your bus driving skills to the test!
Rattler Up, Badge Up!
San Marcos CISD's top priority is the safety of all students and faculty members each and every day across all grade levels, facilities, and after-school extracurricular activities. However, safety is a shared duty—every member of Rattler Nation must actively contribute to ensure a secure and responsible environment for all. In doing so, we highly encourage parents and guardians to ensure their child(ren) are coming to school each and every day with their SMCISD student identification card/badge.
Strikers Science Just Makes Sense
The Kindergarten Strikers in Mr. Merchant’s Science Lab put their five senses to the test through the use of Geo Stix, tiles and magnets to learn about the vast engineering opportunities they can create when using different colors, textures, shapes and techniques!

SMCISD Shoutout – George Garcia
Goodnight Middle School artist, George Garcia created San Marcos CISD inspired pieces that were chosen by the San Marcos Arts Commission to be featured in front of the campus at the traffic light box! His art teacher last year Mrs. Quinonez was a big inspiration in encouraging him to enter the contest. Huge shoutout to George for his creativity and talent! Keep an eye out for Mr. Garcia because he is on to great things whether it be through his creations or on the cello in the Goodnight Orchestra!
