#HSD Reads Summer Challenge Update

I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of keeping our students engaged in reading during their time away from school. Research shows that regular reading over the summer helps prevent learning loss and supports academic progress heading into next school year.

We encourage every student to read daily — whether it’s a novel, graphic novel, magazine, or non-fiction book. Reading should be fun and meaningful, and summer is the perfect time for children to explore new interests and discover the joy of books.

Please support your child in setting aside time each day to read. Your encouragement makes a huge difference in keeping their minds active and curious. Also, don't forget to log your minutes! As a building, we only have logged 394 minutes. We can do better! There is plenty of time left in the summer! As an incentive, all students that log at least 500 minutes will have the opportunity to play PS4 with the principals when we come back in August. Unlock your potential!
