Parking Information
Parking Space Update – due to the limited number of parking spaces available, the online option for payment has been removed. Please submit $50 cash or check (made out to Sequoyah High School) with your parking application. If no spots are available when your student submits their application, your student will go on a waitlist and receive a spot based on the order of the waitlist. Your cash/check will not be deposited until your student receives a spot. Seniors will be placed at the top of the waitlist, followed by juniors, then sophomores. Students must submit a parking application with all required documentation and payment prior to being placed on the waitlist. All parking questions can be emailed to Angie.Geiger@cherokeek12.net.
Manufacturing Lunch and Learn for Seniors
Are you planning to enter the workforce after high school? Don't miss this opportunity to explore career paths with local Cherokee County manufacturers! A limited number of students will be selected for a field trip on Friday, January 31st to meet with representatives from Cherokee County-based companies, network, and learn about available job opportunities. American Legion: Oratorical, Boys/Girls State Contest
ORATORICAL
The American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program is to develop a deeper knowledge and
appreciation of the US Constitution. Participants also grow in leadership ability, their ability to think and speak
clearly and intelligently, and understanding of the rights, responsibilities, obligations, and privileges of U.S citizens.
It is open to all high school students in grades 9 through 12 who are citizens of or lawful permanent residents of the
United States. The 8-10 minutes prepared oration must be the original effort of each contestant. You can win a
scholarship for each round starting at the local level up to the national level with first place being awarded $25,000.

GIRLS STATE
Valdosta State University, Valdosta, GA
June 8-13 2025 (perhaps)
American Legion Girls State is a unique summertime educational program for students that have completed their
junior year of high school. It focuses on participation and personal experience in a model state, complete with
governmental bodies and elected public officials. It is designed to mirror the structure and operation of its
respective state government while providing training in practical citizenship, leadership and character development
through a non-partisan perspective. American Legion Post 316 sponsors the girls. Participants attend a 6-day
program where they stay at the university’s campus. For more information go to www.georgiagirlsstate.org. The
American Legion Post 316 must conduct interviews prior to making application (the website indicates it will only
take online applications, but Post 316 must interview candidates and will pay the tuition for accepted candidates).
Applications must be received by Post 316 by April 15, 2025.

American Legion Boys State is a unique summertime educational program for students that have completed their
junior year of high school. It focuses on participation and personal experience in a model state, complete with
governmental bodies and elected public officials. It is designed to mirror the structure and operation of its
respective state government while providing training in practical citizenship, leadership and character development
through a non-partisan perspective. Participants attend a 7-day program where they stay at the university’s
campus. For more information go to www.dogboysstate.org. American Legion Post 316 sponsors the candidates and
pays the tuition for accepted candidates. Interviews must take place prior to applying for Boys State which must be
received by Post 316 by April 15,2025.
i-Grad Virtual Academy Application SPRING 2025
Online Tutoring Program Available for High School Students
A new online tutoring program now is available for high school students at no cost!
GaTutor at https://gatutor.org/ is the Georgia Department of Education’s new tutoring program supported by Georgia Virtual Learning and offered online through Zoom.
High school students can receive online tutoring at no cost for core academic classes in English language arts, math, social studies and science.
The 25-minute sessions are led by Georgia certified educators with subject expertise and are available from 4 to 10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 8 p.m. Sundays.
Students need to sign up in advance through the SLDS student portal, which they can access through their CCSD Canvas student account, up to one week in advance and at least two hours prior to the session start time.

The Media Center is open before school at 7:45 to study, use a computer, print, and read before the school day starts. Students are able to check out up to four books at a time. Passes from the cafeteria to the MC enable a limited number of students to come to the MC for the second half of lunch! The MC closes at 3:45. Mrs. Franchini and Mrs. Judkins are here to help!

Lockheed Martin is launching two new cohorts in partnership with Chattahoochee Technical College's Aviation Training School, each accommodating 10-12 students for hands-on training in aviation structures careers; applicants must be 18 or older—refer to the attached flyer for details.

Bus - Transportation
Bus routes and issues
If you will be riding a bus to and from school or just one way, be sure you check the bus info icon on the SHS webpage or click here. Once on the look up page please follow the eLink User Instructions so you know your bus number and pick-up/drop-off times.

CHECKING OUT PROCEDURES
Non-Student Drivers
If you are checking out your student who is a non-driver, you must come to Sequoyah main campus and show your ID. The person checking out the student must be on the students contact list. The student will then be called out of class at that time.
Student Drivers
All student drivers are required to have a paid parking permit in order to drive and park on campus. We must have an email giving permission for that student to leave. The email must be from someone on the contact list and state the student first and last name and time the student needs to leave. shs.attendance@cherokeek12.net.
