ALVORD UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
Distrito Escolar Unificado de Alvord
A Message from the Superintendent...
As we approach our second pandemic-Thanksgiving, Norte Vista High School's CIF tournament football game this past Friday served as a reminder that we have come a long way since this time last year. There were no Friday Night Lights in the Fall of 2020. There was no in-person school either. As we now emerge from the depths of the pandemic and give thanks for the blessings of the past year, we will never forget the losses so many of our families, friends, and neighbors suffered at the hands of COVID-19.
While we're learning to live with COVID-19, the annual Thanksgiving holiday comes at a time when our country and the State of California are divided over how to protect our public's health while protecting the rights of our citizens. School districts everywhere have been caught in the middle. On behalf of the Board of Education, we will continue to approach this conflict with an open mind and an open heart. We will continue to listen to our students, staff, and families. We will continue to respect the authority and accept the responsibility that comes with our duty as stewards of the public trust.

It's Family Engagement Week in Alvord...

CIF Fall Championships Update...
Congratulations to the Hillcrest Girls Volleyball Team on an incredible season! It ended on Tuesday after taking the number one seed in the State tournament to 5 games in an epic match. The team returns many of its players next year. The future is bright.
Two student-athletes from Norte Vista High School's River Valley League champion Girls and Boys Cross County teams advanced to the CIF Finals. Congratulations Hope Brookins and Ernesto Ruiz and good luck this Saturday!
The Norte Vista High School football team played their hearts out in a second-round loss to Temecula Valley High School on Friday night. It was the team's only loss of the season after ten straight wins. Congratulations to our student-athletes and Coach Batdorf and his staff for another highly successful season.
Good luck to our student-athletes still competing and congratulations to all of our student-athletes who represented their schools during the Fall sports season.
In Closing....
On behalf of your Board of Education, enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday and a safe and peaceful Thanksgiving break from November 22 through November 26. School resumes on Monday, November 29.
Stay positive. Test weekly. Be well.
Sincerely,
Allan Mucerino
