SHS Spotlight

THANK YOU to all for making our bike-a-thon such a great occasion! We had 56 bikers and so many parents, family, and friends present to lend a hand and to cheer on their riders.

Our bike-a-thon party will be held next Thursday, October 10th, in the afternoon, where the top riders and fundraisers will be announced and where prizes will be awarded.

The final cross country meet of the year, held this past Wednesday, was a great one for our running Cardinals. As Coach PJ said, "It was a special day to end the season. Blaise Hoehn and Prestan Amsler ran well and FAST! Sedrick Gray had his P.R. (personal record) in the 2 mile, and Rylan Vu had his PR in the 2 mile, too. The middle school girls' team (Gianna Bartelli, Izzy Narducci, Sophia Amsler, Myra Maxson, and Joleen Gray) took second place, and all girls had 2-mile PRs. Madi Froese ran her first high school 5K on the JV team and took the 2nd-place medal. And our high school girls also medaled in the JV race, with Lily Froese taking first place and Josephine Mervar taking fourth." Three of the four top runners were our own SHS Cardinals!

This was a GREAT first season for our first-ever cross country team! We are proud of all the hard work our students put in and for our amazing coaches, PJ and Tammy Pruett. And thank you, parents, for supporting your students in this endeavor. May God continue to bless our efforts!

Our parent-teacher association is the Home and School Association. Being a member on the HSA is a great opportunity to help plan events, support the school, and satisfy the volunteer hours requirement. Because our families come from such a large geographical area, we meet via Google Meet so there is no long travel time involved.

Copper Country Snowsports Club is a non-profit, volunteer, parent-run, family-oriented organization dedicated to the development of downhill skiing skills in the Keweenaw. CCSC strives to provide a fun learning environment where every child has the opportunity to discover and reach his or her potential in the life-long sport of skiing.

Come learn more at the informational meeting on Monday, October 14th at 6:30 pm in the Mont Ripley chalet. We will be going over the schedule, costs, and needed equipment.

CCSC consists of programs geared toward proficient skiers and who are independent, riding the lift on their own, as well as those who are looking to bring their skiing to the next level!
