Hello Spicewood Family!

Today was a wonderful way to wrap up the first part of the Spring semester. We had so many visitors and presenters to help make our STEAM Day 2023 a big success!

I hope you and your family have time this next week to recharge and spend time together. I know our teachers and staff will be doing the same! We will see everyone back to school on Monday March 20th.

Wow! What an exciting day for our students. They were able to experience many activities related to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. I am including some pictures but they do not begin to show all of the wonderful activities and speakers your child was able to take part of today. Please make sure to ask them about it!

Special thanks to all of the parents and volunteers who made this happen for our students. We could not have accomplished this without you!

One last thanks to our ITS, Amanda Bindel, and our IB Coordinator, Nicole Cimo for all of their hard work on this event.

The Spicewood First Lego League team of Haroun, Shruthi, Akshara, Henry, and Harper competed in their first competition and won the entire tournament! They were the Grand Champions showing not only core values but advanced programming skills and a superb innovation project.

They beat out hundreds of teams for the top honor. Their next stop is the state tournament!

We are so proud of you Cosmic Electrons!

On Saturday March 4th, the Robotics Club at Spicewood got to showcase all the hard work they have put in over the last several months. Students in the club worked on team building, problem solving, and their coding skills to complete missions with their lego robots. We are so proud of all the hard work and effort the students put in. We were so excited for them to get to showcase it all for parents and other schools in the Westwood Learning community.

It is time to begin enrolling your incoming kindergarten students. Online enrollment opened on March 7th. We will have a Kindergarten Round Up event in May. Please visit the website on the flyer to begin submitting documents and completing enrollment.

If you know of any kindergarten age children that will attend Spicewood, please spread the word that it is time to enroll!

The PTA is putting together a potluck lunch for teachers and staff during the school day on March 29th. Here is the link to sign up. Please see the flyer below for more information.

The Spicewood PTA is currently taking nominations for board positions for the 2023-2024 school year. Board positions can be filled by parents, grandparents, caregivers, or community member who work full time, part time, or not at all. The board is made up of people from diverse backgrounds who care about Spicewood Elementary, our students and our educators. The goal of board service is to help in planning for the overall support of our school. There are roles available for every interest! $18,000= School Wide Celebration
