Important Dates & Upcoming Events
November 1-30: Native American Heritage Month
November 28th & 29th: No School
Beginning next week we will highlight important pieces of these histories. As Dr. Maisha Winn says in Justice on Both Sides, "History Matters...and the infinite journey of all educators is to learn about the historical contexts that affect the schools and communities we teach in. The Histories that make us uncomfortable and force us to look critically at the ... dynamics that characterize our schools."
And so each week in November, we will learn, lean in to the Histories and celebrate by honoring the cultures, histories, futures and lasting contributions of Indigenous communities. As educators, we commit to creating inclusive learning environments and a culture that uplifts and empowers each scholar and their voice.
This week we celebrate Mary Golda Ross.
Mary G. Ross was the second of five children of William Wallace Ross Jr. and Mary Henrietta Moore Ross. She was the great-granddaughter of the Cherokee Chief John Ross. John Ross was influential in the creation of the new settlement in Oklahoma following the removal of Native Americans from their land under Andrew Jackson. This settlement for the Cherokee Nation was complete with a school and government.
She was the first Native American female engineer. She was also the first female engineer in the history of the Lockheed Corporation. She worked at Lockheed from 1942 until her retirement in 1973, where she was best remembered for her work on aerospace design. She was one of the 40 founding engineers of the renowned and highly secretive Skunk Works project while at Lockheed Corporation. Throughout her life, Ross was dedicated to the advancement of young women and Native Americans in STEM fields. Ten years after her death, in 2018, Ross was chosen to be depicted on the 2019 Native American $1 Coin by the U.S. Mint celebrating Native Americans in the space program.

Spirit Wear Sale
Orders placed during this sale will be shipped from our location/delivered to the school no later than Friday, December 13th. If the order is shipping directly to a home through either UPS or USPS we cannot guarantee delivery dates provided by 3rd party carrier tracking services. We do not have control over carrier delays or inaccurate updates noted in tracking details, which we are expecting to happen once again this year. I would recommend encouraging your audience to get their holiday shopping done early during this sale period.
The last day we are accepting holiday/Christmas orders is Friday, 12/6/24. This will be advertised at the very top of your web store through the end of the year to make sure everyone is aware of the deadline.
Important: We are doing our best to remove any products that have stock issues ahead of this sale. However, due to the big shopping weekend we are expecting to see stock move fast. It will be unpredictable to which items will go out and when. We will continue to follow our process of reaching out to customers and helping them the best we can with next steps and second options if an item(s) from their order is no longer available. We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we do our best to navigate inventory challenges.
All of us at The Branding Wearhouse are looking forward to a great upcoming holiday season! With your help it will be the best one yet!
Gratitude and Mental Health:
Scientific research recognizes the importance of gratitude in managing stress, anxiety, and depression. Noticing and expressing gratitude trains your brain to notice and appreciate the good things which can shift your life experience tremendously. Consider this, “Gratitude can increase your happiness and wellbeing, life satisfaction, even overall health while decreasing (symptoms of) anxiety, depression, and anger. It can be a powerful practice to cultivate, especially if you struggle with anxiety or depression.” Some ways you can practice gratitude include keeping a gratitude journal, making a mental list at bedtime of things you are thankful for that day, expressing gratitude to others, meditation, and keeping a “bigger picture” perspective.
