AK STAR RESULTS from 2023!
The results from the Spring 2023 AK STAR administration are now available for you to view in ParentVUE if your child tested in Mat-Su in spring 2023. Directions on how to view these reports are attached as well as the AK STAR Family Guide to Assessment Reports. If you child tested in another district in Alaska in spring 2023, you will need to contact the previous district for results.
Please review the attached AK STAR Results Flyer to see the timeline from the Department of Education and early Development to understand the delay in releasing these results. You may also view Commissioner Bishop’s short video on Adopting New AK STAR Cut Scores here.

Bikes for Books!
Bikes for Books logs are due on Friday, May 3rd! If you read every school day in April, be sure you have an adult sign your log and turn it in for the chance to win a Bike! All completed logs will earn you a Falcon Feather Prize!
Classrooms that have 100% student participation will win a class celebration!
Our drawing for the 4 available bikes will be on Thursday, May 16th at 2:00 during our End of the Year assembly. Families are always welcome to attend our assemblies!
FLE Color Run Info and Volunteer Form!
Our First Annual FLE Color Run is coming up on Friday, May 17th. We are still accepting permission slips for students to participate! It is free to run and families are welcome to join. ALL students who are running MUST HAVE A PERMISSION SLIP ON FILE since part of the course takes us off FLE property. FLE Staff and Parent Volunteers will be at each station for students to check-in. Please note that while we are actively running the marathon we plan to close our FLE parking lot from traffic. If you need to pick up your student early on May 17th, please do so before 1:15 or after 3:00. If you are taking your student with you from the Color Run, you must check them out with their teacher. We are also looking for donations of SLICED oranges for our runners. See the picture below for more info! Thank you!

We need at least 8 volunteers for each 2 hour session, but even more would be great!
We also need items donated/borrowed.
Corn Hole Sets (We need 7-8 full sets)
Lots of Bottles of Water
Eggs (We are going to do a wooden spoon egg race) 1 dozen per class/group would be good. So, 18 dozen?
Plastic 18 oz Red Solo Cups. (20 fifty packs) We are going to do cup stacking races.
Toilet Paper – Mummy wrap races – 80 packs of toilet paper?
Sidewalk chalk (waiting area)
Bubbles (waiting area)
Parents are welcomed and encouraged to come to the BBQ during Field Day!
K/1 Lunch: 11:00!

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
Families who qualified for Free and Reduced Lunch last year will need to re-apply for this school year. Even if you are not sure your family will qualify, filling out an application is the best way to find out. Applying can be done online at https://www.schoolcafe.com/MSBSD. There are also paper applications available in the front office! Feel free to reach out with any questions.
