Spirit Wade captured our hearts with her essay, showcasing an exceptional blend of detailed narrative, storytelling brilliance, and a vibrant personality that truly stood out. Zoe Lie-VenhuiZen, with her unparalleled originality, creativity, and ability to convey powerful messages through art, has set a new benchmark in artistic expression.

Math Night - Wednesday, March 13, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Parents Night Out - Saturday, March 23, from 6 to 10 p.m.
Join Cardinal parents and guardians for dinner and dancing on H Street in partnership with CHAMPS' Old School Dance Party and Fresca Taqueria.
Reserve your table for 6 p.m. (arrive by 6:30 pm) here and enter “J.O. Wilson Parents Night Out” in the Special Request line. Dancing starts at 8:30 with tunes provided by DJ Tony T., location TBD.
For participating parents and guardians, the JOW PTA will provide free childcare at school for J.O. students from 6 to 10 p.m. Sign-up for childcare here.
Family Game Night and Fine Art Show - Wednesday, April 3, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Join Cardinal families and staff for two exciting events on April 3 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.: Family Game Night in partnership with Labyrinth and our Annual Fine Art Show. Game night will be in the cafeteria and the Art Show will be in the commons.
JOW Cherry Blossom Market & Yard Sale - Sat, April 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
J.O. Wilson families, staff, and creatives are invited to sell their second-hand treasures and original creative works at the first annual J.O. Wilson Market and Yard Sale. If you want to sell items at the sale, please register here.
This FREE event will feature games, a bounce house, cotton candy and more fun for the whole family, so mark your calendars and get ready to clean out your closets.
DC DPR Registration for Spring Programs Is Open!

In order to manage high demand for programs, DPR is opening registration over two days:
Registration for AQUATICS programs will begin at noon today.
Registration for ALL OTHER PROGRAMS will begin at noon on Wednesday, March 13.
DPR will again utilize a virtual “waiting room” on both program registration days in order to manage the high demand for programs and keep our online system functioning smoothly. DPR also offers programming at reduced rates for qualifying DC residents. Complete the online reduced rates application here. Residents must be approved for reduced rates by DPR before registering for programs.
Hill Family Biking - Books & Blossoms Ride, Sat, March 23, 10:30AM to Noon
Ride with Hill Family Biking to the stunning new SW Library for a special story time and a librarian guided tour of the facility. Hill Family Biking is teaming up with DC Public Library for a ride to the Southwest Library for a special story time and a librarian-guided tour of the facility with Cherry Blossom peeping opportunities all along the route.
We’ll start at Eastern Market Metro and weave our way down some of the most bikeable streets in the District to SW Library. We’ll have a scheduled exit from SW Library for anyone that wants to ride back to Eastern Market as a group.

We are excited to bring you four more amazing sessions to answer your questions from how to enroll in DCPS to how to support your child during key transitions! All sessions provide you with live access to education experts across the district and more! The sessions are always virtual and on Tuesday evenings. Encouraging healthy habit practices at home is a proactive measure to help ensure kids maintain their health and contribute to the overall well-being of their school communities.
Community Ca$h Conference
Chisholm Elementary School (formerly Tyler) is hosting its inaugural Community Ca$h Conference on Saturday, April 27. There will be finance discussions that cover budgeting, paying for college, buying a home, and more. There will be a marketplace for young entrepreneurs as well.
