Safe Screens Workshop Series
Throughout the year, students receive lessons on digital citizenship and online safety in DPS 109. We know it can be hard for families to keep up with the latest apps and platforms kids are using these days. Join the Deerfield Police Department for their Safe Screens Workshop series on April 17, May 1, May 15, and May 29. You can sign up for just one or for the whole series if there's room! You can find more information on the Deerfield Police Department's website.
Never Too Early to Book Those Doctors' Appointments...
Now is the time to schedule doctors' appointments for next school year! You'll need to submit the appropriate health forms before the start of the school year if your child is entering the Early Learner program, kindergarten, second or sixth grade. Find all the details and the forms you need on the Health Information Page.
Ready, Set, Kindergarten!
We’re excited to help our incoming kindergarteners prepare to begin their District 109 journey! New this year, we are trying a two-day orientation to get students prepared for that big milestone of the first day of kindergarten!
In May, students will get their first chance to meet new classmates and explore the kindergarten classrooms, parents and guardians will attend a 30–40 minute presentation led by the principal.
Then in August, students will get to "practice" for their big first day by experiencing key routines, activities, and moments of independence that are part of kindergarten life. Each child will receive their assigned time slot in July. This will be a drop-off event.
📅 May 13 & August 12: Wilmot and South Park
📅 May 16 & August 12: Kipling and Walden

What's Good in 109?
Service in Action at Caruso
Kudos to the 26 seventh graders who helped sort donated clothes as part of the Caring 4 Kids philanthropic effort! These students are working toward membership in the National Junior Honor Society and represented Caruso and District 109 wonderfully.
Bright Minds at Work at Walden
Second graders are preparing for their annual Invention Convention at Walden! Students will create their own inventions and then present them to peers and others.
