Winter carnival is coming in February
Join us on Saturday, Feb. 4 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for games, food, and prizes!

Nominating committee to be elected at February PTA meeting
By the end of June, Kristin Olson, Suzie Weber, and Louise Kirkman will have served their terms as co-president, vice president of ways and means, and secretary. We will be looking to fill these positions. If you're interested in helping to find people to serve in these roles, please contact Kristin Olson, kolson1@me.com or Rachel Bailey, mooreracheld@hotmail.com
We need five people to be on the nominating committee, plus two alternates. Nominating committee members must have been a member of the PTA for at least 30 days by the time of the Feb. 21st meeting. The nominating committee will report its nominees at the March general membership meeting.
Madison Paw Prints Cover Contest
The results of the staff and faculty voting is in! The top SIX (there was a tie for 5th place) artwork entries in the yearbook cover contest are Alyssa C., Gianna H., Holly K., Bella K., Lexi M., and Leah M. There were a total of 26 amazing original artwork entries. Thank you to each student that participated in the contest. Madison students will vote for the winner, which will appear on the cover of the 2016-2017 Madison Paw Prints yearbook.
Madison Yearbook group pictures day coming soon
Color Portraits will be taking the following group photos for the 2016-2017 Madison Paw Prints school yearbook, on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 2:15 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room.
•Orchestra (no instruments): 5th grade only
•Band (no instruments): 5th grade only
•Patrol (with belts): 5th grade only
•Madison School Outdoor Sign Changers: 5th grade only
•Chorus: 4th & 5th grade only
•Battle of the Books (with shirt): 4th & 5th grade only
•Math Club: 3rd, 4th & 5th grade only
•Chess Club (with shirt, if available): K-5th
•Before and After School Program: K-5th
•Reflections participants: K-5th
If your son or daughter belongs to any of the groups listed above, he or she is invited to be included in the group picture. An announcement will be made over the P.A. informing students when they need to leave class for the pictures. There will be no retakes. Morning kindergarten students that wish to be included must arrive by 2:15 p.m. and be accompanied by a parent. Please sign in as a visitor in the office first.
Order the Madison School yearbook

Distinguished Educator Award Nominations
Nominate an educator between January 10 - 31
Do you have a favorite District 200 educator who has inspired you and made a difference in you or your child’s life? Please fill out a nomination form and let us know who they are!
Nominations may be made by any District 200 student, parent/guardian, alum, staff, or community member. Any educator is eligible for nomination if he/she is currently employed by District 200; classroom aides are not eligible. A parent or student may nominate more than one educator; however, a separate nomination form must be used for each.Educators are not allowed to self-nominate.
The Student Excellence Foundation will present six educators with our Distinguished Educator Award. Awards are presented to one educator at each school level (preschool/elementary, middle, and high school), for each the North & South portions of the District. Awards will be presented on April 18, 2017.
We look forward to reading the nominations of all the great educators in our District!
Attend the upcoming PACE parent event
Attention incoming 2017-2018 kindergarteners
If you have a child who will be five on or before Sept. 1, 2017, please call the school office (630-682-2095) so they may add your child’s name to the Madison kindergarten list. When you call you will receive important information regarding the registration process along with important dates.

Shop at Whole Foods and support Madison
Whole Foods Market Wheaton will be donating 1% of its net profits on Saturday, Jan. 28 to Madison Elementary as part of their opening week celebrations. Come check out the new store and support Madison while you stock up on groceries! The store is relocating to 89 Danada Square East and will open its doors to the public on January 25 at 9 a.m.
Submit your inspiration nominations
Are you the parent of a child who has been inspired by a District 200 teacher or staff member? With your child, take a minute to tell us about it.
Over a year ago, the PTA Council and the Superintendent's Office developed the Inspiration Nomination program to honor our District 200 staff members and acknowledge all that they do for our students. Forms are available in the Madison office, or you can can download the form here and submit it to Erica Loiacono at erica.loiacono@cusd200.org. You can either email a scanned copy (or photo) to erica.loiacono@cusd200.org, or you can turn it into the PTA President mailbox.
Any Inspiration Nomination received will be shared with the staff member nominated along with recognition by the Superintendent and PTA Council. Then, two times per year, the Council and Superintendent will surprise select staff members who have really gone above and beyond by visiting their classroom and recognizing their work personally.
Composting to start in lunchroom
The Conservation Committee is excited to announce that composting soon will be available in the lunchroom. With help from SCARCE (School & Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education), an organization based in Glen Ellyn, the Conservation Committee will work on earning an Earth Flag for Madison School. Representatives from SCARCE will visit the Conservation Committee in February to kick off a school-wide project to assist Madison School earn the flag. Madison PTA advocates for all children through literacy, math, science, problem solving, arts, music, social studies, character development, physical fitness, reaching out, and having fun. Your membership helps to support the numerous programs and activities that our children experience.

Please save General Mills Box Tops and turn them in to the LLC. Madison can earn ten cents for every General Mills Box top turned in. Thank you to Mrs. Spires for heading up this effort. Last year we purchased many copies of the new Rebecca Caudill, Monarch, and Bluestem Award Book Nominees. Thank you for your support.
