Good Sunday afternoon,

We hope everyone had a Brilliant Thanksgiving Break! We are excited to see our Broncos tomorrow and continue our work as Brilliantly Inspired Leaders and Learners through our Bronco 5! We are so incredibly proud of our Broncos and all of the hard work they are putting in each day on campus and of our staff for their excellence in growing our students. We are so grateful for all our Broncos and Brill community!

This week we will jump right back into learning as our focus will be finishing quarter two and semester one strong both academically and behaviorally. Over the next three weeks we will continuing learning our quarter two concepts and showing mastery through projects and assessments which include FactTrack checkpoints and quarter two testing. We have also built in some winter events as we celebrate this time of year and make memories with our Broncos.

We want to give a big shout out to our Broncos of the month for November- thank you for doing a great job each day and displaying our Bronco 5 core values! We also want to shout out everyone that that supported our Bronco Gallop! We appreciate our campus and community so much as you continue to support our Broncos!

Finally, don't forget this Saturday is our annual PTO event- Breakfast with Santa! It is a wonderful event and a wonderful way to kick-off the holiday season.

We want to thank all of our families for their continued partnership as we work together to support our students. We appreciate and value our Brill community! A great big thank you to everyone for our Bronco Gallop! The campus raised nearly $40,000 dollars which will be used to support our campus and Broncos! The Gallop was a great success and big shoutout to our community who came out to cheer on our Broncos, the Specials department for helping host the event, PTO, Klein High's Tennis team, and our PE staff!! Y'all are Brilliant!

Great job as well to our Broncos who worked so hard earning donations and completing so many laps at the Gallop! Great job Broncos!!

Thank you to all of our families and staff that joined us for our annual Dual Language Potluck. We had a wonderful time sharing a meal with our families and getting to try some amazing food from so many different countries!

Our Third grade students got to take a special trip the Wednesday before break with a field trip to the Pearl Fincher Museum where they got to hear from museum directors about art pieces and complete a fine arts craft project! Thank you to Klein's Fine Arts department for hosting this trip and our volunteers for attending with our Broncos!

A big kudos to our Fall Writing Contest Winners! All our Broncos did a amazing but the following student's writing shined bright! We can't to read more writing submissions from our talented Broncos in our next writing contest.

This year we will be celebrating a Bronco from each class every month that does a great job of displaying our Bronco 5 trait of the month. Our Bronco 5 traits include Respect, Kindness, Self-Control, Communication, and Integrity. The class Bronco of the Month will be voted on by their fellow classmates.

On December 3rd, Health Services will perform a Scoliosis Screening for our 5th grade girls. Health Services will share results following the screening.

On Dec. 7th, our PTO will host it's annual Breakfast with Santa Event. Please mark your calendars for this special event and more info will be sent home soon!

Beginning Decemeber 9th, our campus will celebrate 10 days of Holiday Cheer with dress-up days and campus events!

On December 20th we will hold our winter parties to celebrate the holidays. Guests will be invited to attend and a schedule of the grade level celebrations will be shared soon.

• We are incentivizing for students based on behaviors and academics.
• Students must complete assignments and not have any office referrals for physical contact in order to participate. Students with other referrals may have partial time for the incentive.
• Student behaviors will be from October 21-December 12, January 13 -March 13, and March 24 - May 22, for the next incentive.
• We will have school wide incentives on December 13th (Just Dance), March 14th (Board Game Day), and May 2nd (Popcorn/Popsicle Day) for students to earn.

Student Illness:

As cold, strep and flu season progresses, we are in that time of year when many students are coming down with upper respiratory symptoms. These include nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, headache, and possibly fever.

Please be aware that Klein ISD requires that students be excluded from school for a fever of 100.0 or higher and they may not return to school until they are fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.

Temporarily masking a fever with medication does not change the fact the student is in the contagious period of an illness and may be spreading the illness, like the flu, to others by coughing, sneezing, and touching surfaces.

While we value student attendance, it is important everyone plays their part in keeping the spread of illness to a minimum by following this rule. Please also make sure your contact information and emergency contacts are up to date with the Registrar so that you can be reached in the event your child is ill and must be picked up from school.

NEW Medication Guidelines:

If your child will need a prescribed medication while at school, there has been a change to Klein ISD procedures. Prescribed medications will need a written order by a licensed healthcare provider. Clinic staff will not be able to use the prescription label as proof of the written medical order, as in the past. The licensed healthcare provider can use the Klein ISD Medication Authorization form, an action plan, or a letter from their office to provide their signed consent. If you have any questions, please contact our school clinic.

Also please contact the clinic for any student needing an action plan.

Ex. Action plans may include the following:

• Asthma
• Allergy to foods
• Diabetes
• Seizures

Breakfast & Lunch Information:

All car riders and walkers will be allowed in the building beginning at 7:45 am to eat breakfast before reporting to their homeroom class. All bus riders will have the option of eating breakfast once they arrive on campus. Staff members will be located in the cafeteria each morning in order to help our students with trays, ID badges, and navigating the cafeteria line.

Thirty minute lunch periods will be scheduled by grade level beginning at 10:30 am through 12:50 pm. Staff members will be located in the cafeteria at every lunch in order to help our students with trays, ID badges, and navigating the cafeteria line.

In order to be able to comfortably accommodate the large number of students eating lunch in the cafeteria at one time, it is necessary to assign days for parents to eat lunch with students at the tables in the front lobby.

Grade level assigned lunch days are listed below. Lunch visitors on days other than the assigned day will be permitted with prior permission from campus administration and will be limited to special circumstances such as birthdays, out of town visitors, etc.

Last week we worked to get all student's their ID and transportation tags. Please note their are specific locations for these tags on your student's backpack and the tags need to stay in those locations, please. Bus riders will need to have their SMART tags when entering and exiting the bus, all car riders, bus riders, and walkers from Pre-K through 1st need a transportation tag, and teachers have ID tags for lunch time.

If you student has lost their tag or a replacement/additional one is needed, please contact Ms. Hall in the front office via email or by phone at rhall2@kleinisd.net or 832-484-6150.

• Visitors should ring the doorbell located at the front door of the school in order to notify the front office staff of your arrival.

• Visitors will be asked to present their IDs to the camera before entering the building.

• Once inside, visitors should report to the main office to check-in and receive their visitors badge. Visitors are asked to remain in the areas noted on their badge.

• Students will not be released to visitors during school hours without a photo ID, thank you for understanding and for helping us to keep our Broncos safe.

Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his or her education—to benefit from teacher-led and school activities, to build each day’s learning on the previous day’s, and to grow as an individual. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s mastery of the instructional materials; therefore, the student and parent should make every effort to avoid unnecessary absences.

Any student who is absent for the whole day is required to produce one of the following within 5 days of their absence(s):

• Parent Note
• Message through Parent Skyward account
• Original medical note (copies or altered notes will not be accepted)
• Faxed notes must be sent from physician’s office
• Court note
• Official note for observance of approved religious holy days

All cell phones and electronic devices including Airpods and earbuds should be kept powered off in your student's backpack or belongings. Students may not use their cell phone or electronic device during school hours. Cell phone use in restrooms is strictly prohibited and will result in school consequences. If a student is caught using their phone, the device will be taken to the office by a staff member and the parent will be contacted.

If a parent or caretaker needs to communicate with their child, please contact the front office and we will facilitate getting your child the message.
