Roosevelt Bus Cancellation - CARPOOL Time!
Three buses will be cancelled from Oct. 7 - 11:
Bus K, Bus L and Bus M, which service students at Buchanan, Cooper, Emerson, Franklin, Riley, Roosevelt and Stevenson. The cancelations are for one week, for both AM and PM routes. Please see the drop off and pick up expectations for a smooth and safe experience.
Parents, please consider setting up a carpool with other Roosevelt friends and families. Some important tips to a successful and safe arrival and dismissal include:
- Reduce your speed while entering and exiting the parking lots, do not speed or cut in line
- When dropping off your student, please pull all the way forward. This allows space for other vehicles behind yours to drop off their children simultaneously
- Be sure your student(s) are packed up and ready to exit the vehicle (backpack, water bottle, jacket, lunch box, etc... all should be easily accessible to your student and staff members)
- Be cautious of other traffic, especially pedestrians, as you pull away from the designated drop off area
- Remain in your vehicle at all times and do not park in the loop
- Roll your window down and tell the adult who you are picking up
- Keep loop entrance/exit unobstructed, do not block the in/out
We expect an increase in vehicles. We also know our community is patient, kind, and prioritizes safety. It may take a few extra minutes getting everyone dropped off or picked up, but that's okay.
Please pay attention to staff wearing pink safety vests. We will have lots of staff helping with a safe arrival and dismissal next week!
See maps below for where to go.

School - Parent Compact
It’s that time of year again! Please take a moment to sign our Roosevelt School-Parent Compact.
What is the School-Parent Compact?
The Roosevelt School-Parent Compact is a shared agreement that describes how parents, students, and school staff will work together towards a common goal of student achievement in alignment with the State’s high academic standards. This compact demonstrates the importance of a partnership and outlines key roles that each member is responsible for in order to support student learning throughout the school year.
How to review and sign?
Parents/guardians you have 2 options to sign the compact. There is a digital compact and signature form (visit the link below) or you can sign a physical paper copy at Parent Teacher Conferences. Note: If you have more than one child at Roosevelt you will have to fill out a digital form or sign a paper copy for EACH student.
Teachers review and sign the compact prior to conferences.
Students review and sign the compact, at school, with their teacher and classmates.
Linked is the digital Compact and Signature Option for parents/guardians>

From Mrs. Serazio
Tiger Tuesdays are off to a great start at Roosevelt! All students are encouraged to show their Tiger pride on Tuesdays by wearing Roosevelt gear or our school colors of blue and orange!
Our PBIS expectation focus for next week will be in the cafeteria. We are working on keeping our cafeteria clean and holding students responsible for cleaning up their messes after eating. Please talk with your child about how they eat and clean up in the cafeteria. We are also looking for volunteers to assist in the cafeteria any day from 11:40-12:30. If you can help, please let Mrs. Serazio know at jserazio2@livoniapublicschools.org. Thank you in advance!
PBIS
Thank you to all the families who returned the PBIS commitment sheet included with our pamphlet. Our staff and students are dedicated to being respectful, responsible, and safe as stated in our Positive Behavior Matrix. Students can earn “red tickets” for following the matrix expectations. Every Friday, teachers pull two red tickets, and the students can come to the lobby for a special prize!
Medications and Health Information - Please read!
If your child has a medical condition and/or requires medication at school, please download the forms your child needs for school, based on their health conditions (Life-Threatening Food and/or Insect Allergy, Allergy IHCP, Asthma, Diabetes, Seizure Disorder). New forms must be completed by you and your child’s physician each year (dated after the last day of school of the previous school year). Please ensure that the forms include both your signature and your child’s doctor’s signature. We cannot dispense any medication without these completed forms. Forms can be found on our school website under the parent tab as “Health Forms”.
Medications and forms can be brought to the school office anytime moving forward. Don't delay in sharing medical updates as you get updated information.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Serazio at jserazio2@livoniapublicschools.org.
October Lunch Menu
Art with Ms. Salvia
Grades 2-4 continued working on our Spiderweb art using the element of art, "Line." We added lots of color using watercolor pencils. Many of our artists added lots of detail and neatly drawn lines to finalize our projects.
Young 5's through 1st grade continued our "Alphabet Soup" projects and began gluing our pieces together. Now it really looks like a bowl full of alphabet soup! We will add a spoon and napkin to finalize our awesome artwork.
See you next week in Art!

PLTW with Mr. Morrow
Our students have been diving into hands-on STEM activities this month, exploring the world around them in creative ways!
- Kindergarteners learned about the four basic needs of living things and put their knowledge to the test by designing and building nests for birds.
- First graders explored light through interactive centers, using flashlights to reflect and diffract light, and experimenting with color cards to mix different colors.
- Second graders investigated heat insulators by testing hand warmers and comparing how different materials protect against heat loss.
- Third graders are hard at work with their VEX IQ kits, building simple machines to understand mechanics and engineering principles.
- Fourth graders embraced the design process, creating imaginary plants that are specially adapted to survive in various environments, fostering their creativity and problem-solving skills.
We’re excited to see the students’ growth and can’t wait for the next round of discoveries!
See you next week!

LMC with Mr. Pinta
Book checkout has now been going on for about a month in the newly renovated LMC. More and more books are added each week as additional shelving continues to open up. You can keep up with what your child is checking out by opening up Follet Destiny here and logging in with your child's username and password, then heading to the heading "my stuff" and "checkouts."
This week after checkout, student's in second through fourth grade tried out "Typetastic," a new typing program I came across. The reactions were mostly positive from students. This, as with many of the other programs and websites we access during library are accessible through our Symbaloo page in the Library Media Center section of the Roosevelt Website. You can check it out here. After conferences next week, we will begin a four week unit on Digital Citizenship.
Mr. Pinta
Music with Ms. Grammatico
It's Hispanic Heritage Month and we are celebrating in the music room!
3rd and 4th graders learned a cup routine to the song "La Raspa" also known as the Mexican hat dance. They also read rhythms and played instruments to the song "Los Machetes." We will continue learning about Hispanic Heritage throughout the month.
Kindergarten through 2nd grade continued the songs they have been learning since the beginning of the year. They also learned the dance to "La Raspa!"
