A Moment With Ms O'Donnnell
Dear Attea Families,
Our students all did a good job engaging on our last major assessment, NWEA/MAP Reading and Math, which is a standardized test designed to measure academic growth and proficiency. We will be holding make-up sessions next week for those who were unable to participate.
We acknowledge all the efforts in recognizing our staff at Attea during Teacher Appreciation Week. Our amazing PTA, which plays a vital role in supporting our staff, does a wonderful job with creative and thoughtful ways to show their appreciation! Thanks for all of our collaboration this school year!
Go Flyers!

Graduation Ticket and Information On Its Way To You
Please be on the look out for an envelope in your U.S. mailbox with an information letter and tickets to the 2024 Graduation. Please give ample time for them to arrive. Here is a preview of what to expect.
Our graduation ceremony, a momentous event scheduled for Thursday, May 30th, at 7:00pm., at Glenbrook South High School’s Auditorium, is a time for us to celebrate the hard work and achievements of our students at Attea. We are thrilled to be a part of this significant milestone in their lives.
Tickets: Five graduation tickets have been mailed. A ticket is not needed for the graduate. Separate sets have been sent to families indicated as two households in PowerSchool. No “extra” tickets are available because we have provided every graduate with the maximum possible tickets. If you need extra tickets, families and graduates are encouraged to talk with each other and share tickets. There are no assigned seats in the auditorium.
Rehearsal: The graduation rehearsal will be on Wednesday, May 29th, during the school day. Students will be transported by bus to GBS at approximately 10:00am, where we will prepare for the ceremony. Practice will conclude at approximately noon. Students will return to Attea for the remainder of the school day.
The following information is all regarding the activities on Graduation Day, Thursday, May 30th:
Students will NOT be attending school on Thursday, May 30th. Students can be with families and prepare for the Graduation Ceremony.
Dress: Graduation from eighth grade does not warrant formal attire. Our graduates typically wear slacks (or a suit), shirts, ties, socks, and shoes or summer dresses. Parental guidance in the matter of appropriate attire is appreciated.
Ceremony: Students should report to the GBS by 6:30pm on graduation night. The ceremony begins at 7:00 p.m. and lasts approximately one hour. Following the ceremony, graduates will have about 15 minutes to celebrate and take pictures with families and friends in the hallways and cafeteria near the auditorium. At approximately 8:20p.m., students will board buses back to Attea for their graduation party.
Party: The graduation party will be from 8:30–10:00pm. Chaperoned by teachers and parents, the party will be for Attea graduates only; parents or outside guests are not allowed into the festivities. To maintain a festive atmosphere and maximize student safety and security, students should plan to be present for the duration of the party. If students need to leave early, we ask that prior arrangements be made with an administrator. Parents must sign their child out if students are picked up early from the party. Students who leave the party may not return under any circumstances. Parents will arrange transportation in advance so students will be picked up promptly at 10:00pm. Parents will be called to pick up their child if a student is not following school expectations.
Exciting Times Ahead for the Class of 2024!

Dr. Bolton will identify the myths that create unnecessary pressure on families and will share strategies that will help you refocus your caregiving energy on the things that support wellness in your children and yourself.
Doug Bolton is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and Director of School Consultation for Formative Psychological Services. He spent over 20 years as a psychologist and principal at North Shore Academy, a K-12 therapeutic school in Highland Park.
