PRIDE Under Construction - Week #26 🚧
Greetings, STEAM Family!
We are so grateful to have completed another fantastic week of PRIDE at SDE with the highlight of the week being our Annual Black History Program. Our program theme for this year was “Celebrating Black Resistance and Resilience”, which also aligned with the Association for the Study of African American Life & History’s (ASALH) National Theme, “Black Resistance”. Through the arts, our students put on a remarkable display of the successes and triumphs of African American people from past to present. SHOUTS OUT and a HUGE WELL DONE to all of our participants for an outstanding program! Be sure to check out some of the pics from the program below!
This week, in the “Instruction Zone”, we are looking forward to celebrating National Read Across America Week, better known as Dr. Seuss Week. As a reminder, one of our schoolwide literacy goals for this year is for each student to increase his/her total reading score by at least 10 points by the end of the year. Our staff is bound and determined to keep our "instruction under construction" to ensure all of our students are successful. The list of the activities in which students and staff will participate this week is featured below.
As always, feel free to contact us anytime with questions or concerns, and thank you for your continued support of "THE" Susie Dasher Elementary School!
In the meantime, stay tuned for another week full of P.R.I.D.E.!
WHO ARE WE???...
Celebrating Resistance & Resilience 2023
SDE thanks the members of the Beta Alpha Chi Zeta Graduate Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, one of our long-standing community partners, for attending this year's Black History Program. The students and staff of SDE greatly appreciate your service!
National Read Across America Week!
SDE is excited about literacy and growing readers. Below is a list of the themes for each day, along with a host of great books to go along. Let's get started reading!
This Week at SDE:
ATTENDANCE MATTERS - Parents, please make sure your child maintains regular attendance and arrives to school in a timely manner. Students are tardy at 8:15 am. Five (5) tardies and/or early dismissals count as one (1) unexcused absence. Student attendance will be a part of criteria used to determine eligibility for school-wide celebrations. Remember, every minute really counts!
- Weekly grade level newsletters will be sent home each Monday, so please check your child's folder and/or book bag.
- The dress code will be enforced DAILY at SDE! Any "Dress Down" days will be communicated in advance. Repeated dress code violations will result in students becoming ineligible to participate in school-wide and/or classroom PRIDE celebrations and events! Please make sure your child adheres to the required dress code. Remember, the P in PRIDE stands for "Personal Responsibility".
- The PRIDE Afterschool Remediation/Enrichment Program takes place on Mondays - Wednesdays from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Snacks and transportation will be provided. For more information regarding the after school program waiting list, please contact the school at (478) 353-8250.
