MUMS Family Newsletter

Dear caregivers and families,

We are looking forward to our trip to Boston with our 8th graders today! We want to extend a huge thank you and express immense gratitude for all those parents who helped fundraise to make this trip happen and we can't wait to share stories and pictures with you all upon our return!

Additionally, next Thursday May 23rd from 6:00-7:30 we will host our rising 6th grade caregiver information night! We are looking forward to meeting our new families and reconnecting with families that we already know!

Lastly, our last day of school for students is confirmed for Friday June 14th, 2024. We are looking forward to a fun filled and positive last few weeks of the 23-24 school year and look forward to celebrating our 6th and 7th graders with a day trip to Branbury on June 13th. Look for more details about the trip in upcoming newsletters!

On Wednesday, June 5th MUMS will welcome incoming 6th graders from 9-11 a.m. and 8th graders will visit MUHS at the same time. Students will tour the building, engage in team building, and meet with students and staff.

MUMS ensembles are in full swing as we draw close to the end of the school year. Earlier this month, some of our choristers were selected to join the VT ACDA Honors Choir Festival held in Burlington. While there, students spent two days practicing and preparing for a culminating concert, which was conducted by Destiny Cooper of the Boston Children's Chorus. (See the two photos below.) Through their participation, our students clearly embodied risk-taking and communication, two aspects of our IB Learner Profile. Thank you to our students for representing MUMS and pursuing their love of music! A big thank you, too, to Mr. Sherman for supporting our young singers.

As we begin to wrap up the year, be on the lookout for additional opportunities to support MUMS musicians.

• The band and chorus ensembles will be presenting their spring concert next Tuesday, May 21st @ 6:30 at the MUHS Auditorium.

• The 7th and 8th Grader Band will be joining the Memorial Day Parade here in Middlebury on the 27th.

• Jazz band will be heading to Burlington for JazzFest on June 6th.

Staff Wish List

• Our Staff Wish List includes lots of things you might have around your home unused, like magazines (for Ms. Ambrose's classes), milk crates (for Ms. Cosgrove's classes), tools, scrap wood, craft supplies and more!

We are so excited to welcome parents and community members back into our buildings this year! If you are interested in substitute teaching or volunteering this year, please start an application now!
