Field Trips
Mrs. Riggins' 5th Grade Book Club
On Friday, April 4th, Mrs. Riggins’ 5th Grade Book Club met at the Lawrence Rotary Arboretum for the final discussion on their first reading selection, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. The group met weekly to discuss the weekly reading as well as reflect on connections they shared with the main character, Edward Tulane. Students mapped Edward’s journey, and created projects along the way, which included a very impressive marionette.
A few bonus “guests” slithered nearby. The snakes were welcomed by some, while Mrs. Riggins kept a very safe distance.
Can you find the movable “stick?”

Kansas City Symphony Kinderkonzert "Because"
LVS students grades K-3 attended the KC Symphonoy's Kinderkonzert on Tuesday, April 16th. Because: Story by Mo Willems, music by Jessie Montgomery tells the powerful tale of how chance, discovery and persistence changed the life of a young girl. Moral of the story...Little things can have a big effect.
The symphony also instruced students and their family members to the different orchestra sections and instruments. The group of almost 30 truly enjoyed the performance.
