A message from Patti Park - Parent & Community Liasion
We look forward to sharing what the new academic school year will bring and to the continued growth of the Family Learning Center.
Until then, have a safe and wonderful summer!

One of our own - MCHS Alumnae - Adam Lambert - class of 2000
I remember attending Adam Lambert's MCHS Homecming in May of 2009. It was exciting to see him perform and to hear him speak to us. I especially enjoyed his message "Embrace each other's differences. It's cool to be different." And it's also great to be a Sundevil with Sundevil pride!

We are PUSD Strong! ~ Dealing with the Aftermath of Poway Shooting
Experiencing tragedy is tough. Here at Poway Unified, we ARE strong. There have been many moving and powerful gatherings. People throughout our whole community are attending vigils, making banners, writing poems, sharing hugs and supporting each other in so many ways. Sometimes, however, people feel frustration when they see others expressing their care and compassion in ways different from their own. This brings to the forefront when it is important to be accepting of each other. Everyone has his or her own perspective and feelings. We need to lead with compassion even if others thoughts and feelings are different from our own. Listen to each other without judging.
Set boundaries for yourself on how much you can be available to others. Self-care is crucial when going through difficult situations. Just as we hear when we board an airplane, “put your oxygen mask on first before helping others”. It is important that you take care of YOU!
One of the many ways that the Mt. Carmel community is coming together is by deciding to participate in the ADL Walk Against Hate. This event will take place on May 19th beginning at 8:30am at Liberty Station. We walk for love. We walk to support diversity. We walk to promise inclusion. We walk to show we say NO to acts of hate. We walk because it is the Sundevil Way! Join our Mt. Carmel Team by going to https://support.adl.org/team/207077 Students can register for FREE by putting in code NPFH2019
Hope you join us as we take a step in the right direction.

The Family Learning Center Incentive Program - Fall 2019
Hello Sundevils,
Next Fall, the Family Learning Center (FLC) will be implementing the FLC Incentive Program to recognize the students’ effort and growth in the areas of academics, commitment to improvement, and building community. The only requirements to be a part of the incentive program are to becoming a member of the FLC and attending the center once a week for at least an hour. Doing that, will give students an opportunity to earn premium snacks, gift cards to various places, and be eligible to attend our end of the trimester surprise trip. The FLC is a place a great place to study, connect, collaborate and catch up.
