A NEWSLETTER FOR WEST SIDE FAMILIES
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear West Side Families,
We are just one more awake up from Spring Break! Before we head into the busy months of April/May, Spring Break will offer an opportunity for students and staff to rest and recharge. I hope your week is as packed with activity as you would like, or as quiet as you need. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on April 14th.
After the break, we will wrap up the final six weeks of the school year - where has the time gone!? These weeks will be busy with end of year assessments, spring events like our annual Art Show and Spring Picnic, final field trips, field days, and more! While these weeks are a fun time of year, our teachers also keep the focus on learning and keep routines familiar for our students. Everyone thrives with consistency in the classroom.
As always, please reach out to me if I can support your child in any way. Thank you for entrusting our staff to be a part of our child's formative elementary school years. We are beyond grateful for your partnership and support. There's no place like West Side!
Warm regards,
Christina

3rd-5th Grade Georgia Milestones End of Grade Assessments
Third-fifth grade students will take Georgia Milestones End of Grade (EOG) assessments April 22-May 1. Your child's teacher has prepared him/her all year, ensuring your child will do his/her best! During testing weeks, you can help your child at home by doing the following:
- Ensure that he/she arrives at school on time and well-rested on testing days.
- Talk about the purpose of testing with your child, explaining that this test will give the school and family important information about the child’s academic progress and achievement of his/her learning goals.
- Ease your child’s nerves by providing them with encouraging words each day of testing, such as – “Do your best today!”, “Take your time and concentrate on each question”, and “I know you’ll do great, if you give it your best!”
