Moving Mountains in a Major Way.......
Dear All-Star Families,
As we move through this school year, I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of daily attendance, rest, and academic support at home. Our students have recently completed their Curriculum/Campus Based Assessments (CBAs), and now is an ideal time to focus on their progress and reinforce key skills.
Ensuring that your child is present at school each day is crucial for their learning. Regular attendance helps build a strong foundation and keeps them engaged in the curriculum. Additionally, adequate rest is essential for your child's focus and performance in class.
To further support their learning, we encourage you to reinforce basic math and multiplication facts at home. Practicing these skills can greatly enhance their fluency and proficiency in math. Similarly, reading together with your child can foster a love for literature and improve their comprehension skills.
We invite you to reach out to your child's teacher to schedule a conference regarding their progress. This partnership between home and school is vital in helping your child achieve their academic goals.
Finally, we are excited to invite you to join us for a fun evening at Chuck E. Cheese on October 30, 2024. Please see the flyer included in this newsletter for details. It will be a wonderful opportunity to connect with other families and support our school community.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to your child's education. We look forward to seeing you at Chuck E. Cheese!
Yours for an opportunity to serve,
Ursula Gordon-Higginbotham
Principal

Due to safety purposes and to ensure all scholars are safe, Major will be a Cell Phone Free Zone during instructional time. Scholars will not be allowed to have technology (cell phones) out and visible on campus. Scholars’ cell phones will remain with the teacher in a locked cabinet and will be returned at the end of the school day. In need of an emergency, you can always call the school at 281-891-8870. We are a “NO ZONE” campus.
Students are not able to check out of school at 2:45 p.m. or later due to safety and dismissal transitions. The daily start time will begin at 8:05 A.M. and conclude at 3:25 P.M.
For safety purposes, students may not be on campus until 7:45 a.m. or after 3:50 p.m. unless they are with a teacher. Breakfast is served at 7:45 a.m. Like last year, the bus loop pick up and drop off pattern will be along the back of the building and car riders will be dropped off at the front of the building through the car rider line in the morning and the opposite afterschool. Please remember that car riders can’t be dropped off in the parking lot or on the street (scholars must remain in the car). Students are considered tardy after 8:05 a.m. and parents are considered late after 3:50 p.m. Please remember dismissal begins at 3:25 p.m.
Please ensure you visit the website for more helpful information such as dress code, cell phone policy, student parent handbook, and the school supply list.
