Principal's Update #19
April 28, 2024
Message from Mr. Jackson.....
Hello Students, Parents, Guardians and Caregivers,
I hope this message finds you all well. The activity has picked up around NAHS with spring athletics in full gear, our performing arts preparing for spring performances and the completion of many educational field trips. Coming up in early May, we will have AP exams, final preparation for math MCAS and the continuation of many springtime activities for our students. We have less than five weeks with the Class of 2024 and we look forward to celebrating with our seniors as we get closer to senior week and graduation.
Please see the remainder of my update below.
Chet Jackson
Principal

HAPPY ARBOR DAY & KICKOFF TO MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH
On Friday, 4/26, NAHS celebrated Arbor Day and prepared to kickoff May's Mental Health Awareness Month. The Mental Health Awareness Club partnered with the Dirty Hands Project, a nonprofit organization that plants trees in honor of those who have struggled with mental health. The Dirty Hands Project was founded by Josh and Liz Moughan in honor of their 18 year old son Ty, a North Andover resident who tragically lost his life to suicide in August of 2023. Ty loved nature and had a beautiful passion for Arbor. His parents were inspired by his love for nature and have made it their mission to plant trees in memory of those who passed away from suicide. On 4/26, the Mental Health Awareness Club alongside the Dirty Hands Project planted a tree in the faculty parking lot near the Vietnam Memorial in honor of Andrea Lee Surette who passed away from suicide. We encourage all students to visit the sight located in the faculty lot on the third tier.

REMINDER: MORNING TRAFFIC PATTERN
Please see below:
Arrival and Parking (Students Enter)
Arrival procedures will be similar to traditional years. Cars will continue to enter at Osgood Street in a single file. Student drop-off will occur between 7:00 a. m. and 7:35 a. m. A warning bell will ring at 7:35 a. m. and the first period will begin at 7:40 a. m.
NAHS will remain one way around the entire high school. The one exception is that our student drivers are able to take a left turn by Section A where cars exit right to return to Osgood Street.
If dropping off in the Track Side Parking Lot, please do not drop off in the tier closest to the building. We have buses that use that tier to drop off students that require accessibility close to NAHS. Please use one of the other three options.
To access the gate to take a right turn by section F, drivers need to stay in the right lane and not enter the faculty lot by section D. Drop-offs must occur by the Vietnam Memorial in section E.
For the safety of all drivers, students and staff, please drive slowly around campus, especially in slippery weather conditions. We do not want anyone getting hit or feeling unsafe in our lot. Please drive safely and responsibly and allow walkers to access the crosswalks.
