A Message From the Mountain

Dear Blackhawk Families,

Thank you so much for the support from the community for our Kindness Campaign fundraiser we just completed. The generosity of our families and friends has allowed us to be able to upgrade our campus security and beautify the campus with window wraps, as well as purchase new robotics kits for our STEM program.

Our quarter 1 awards assembly will be on November 1st. Kinder through 2nd grade will take place from 8:15-9:00 and 3rd-8th grade will take place from 9:00-9:45. We will recognize students who earned Honor Roll and Principal's List. We will also recognize students who have earned other academic awards. If your child is receiving an award besides Honor Roll or Principal's List, you will receive an email letting you know. Honor Roll and Principal's List are determined by student grades. Please check your student's grades for quarter 1 to know if they are receiving one of those awards. Report cards are being sent home Friday.

Our kindergarten students will be dressed as their favorite book characters on October 31st. The students from the rest of the school will line the breezeway at 8:30 so that the kindergarten students can parade around in their outfits. Families, feel free to join us for this event. Our winning class for our Kindness Campaign fundraiser, Mrs. Stephan's 6th grade class, was able to turn Ms. Brunk into a human sundae at our last Blackhawk Bonanza! Great job raising funds for our school, Mrs. Stephan's class!

Please join us to celebrate our Veterans at our annual Veterans Day Assembly on Friday, November 8th at 8:15 AM.

Are you or someone in your family a Veteran? We would like to invite you to join our celebration. Refreshments will be provided to Veterans and their immediate family following the assembly.

Our amazing DMS PTO will be hosting our school Boo Bash on October 25th. Please save the date and plan on joining us for an evening full of fun, games, and friends! Each ticket costs $1 and each teachers' booth takes around 1-3 tickets (ticket requirement varies.) The money raised at the teachers' booths goes directly back into their classrooms! Hot dogs and refreshments will be available for sale as well.

We will be offering open gyms for volleyball and basketball for 5th-8th graders starting next week. Volleyball will be Oct. 21-24 and basketball Oct 28-31. The open gyms will be Monday-Thursday 3:00-4:30. If you are interested, fill out the registration form and send it in with the receipt to Mr. Booth. You must put down your insurance information. You may sign up for both open gyms and they will be run by the coaches. If you have any questions contact Mr. Booth at Dan.booth@dvusd.org.
