WMS Newsletter
WMS parents and guardians,
Welcome to November! The Holiday Season is right around the corner and our 2nd quarter is already underway. Typically, 2nd quarter is the busiest quarter for our students. We have our basketball season starting, lots of intramurals and clubs gathering, and lots of fun things coming up at WMS!
For the 18th consecutive year, Student Council is partnering with the Salvation Army MidTown Center (Harbor Lights) to have another homeless veterans outreach! Our goal is to provide coats, clothing, and personal care items to as many homeless veterans as possible, as well as their families, and other homeless people before winter sets in. We are collecting gently used coats, hats, gloves, blankets, and other clothing items for both men and women. We are also collecting personal care items such as deodorant, bar soap, body wash, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shaving cream. (No Razors or Mouthwash, please). Each team will have a barrel dedicated to them for collections. Barrels will be weighed each week to see which team collects the most donations. On December 6, our Student Council will visit Harbor Lights to give items to the homeless. It is a great way that Wentzville Middle can help those in need this time of year. Please consider donating!
Again this year, we are hosting our Veterans Day Breakfast on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 8am. We would like to give our students an opportunity to invite a veteran, active duty member or reservist to our breakfast. The guest should be a family member of a WMS student or faculty member. If you are interested in attending please fill out this Google Form to RSVP by Monday, November 11.
Is there a teacher at WMS that you feel should be nominated for the WMS Teacher of the Year? Nominate this teacher by filling out the Nomination form. Classroom teachers, Special Education teachers, Explo teachers and interventionists, PE coaches, our Librarian and Counselors can all be nominated for this recognition. Get your nomination in by November 8!
As we get closer to Thanksgiving, it causes me reflect on all that I am thankful for as the principal of WMS. I am very grateful for our wonderful, and hilarious, middle school students! I am also extremely thankful for the hardworking and talented staff at WMS. They love their school and they love their students even more. I am very thankful for such wonderful parental support and a supportive community to work and live within. As always, if you have any concerns in regards to your child, please contact your child's counselor or the WMS admin team. We're here to support you and your child!

Picture Orders and picture retakes
Parents should have received an email from Trotter Photo with a link to view and order your child's school pictures. If you wish to do picture retakes, our retake day is December 3.
Our winter season has already started! 8th grade Boys and Girls Basketball, Cheer, and Dance have held tryouts and practices started a few weeks ago. We are excited to see our 8th graders in action!
Our season will start with the Blue and Gold Scrimmage on Monday, November 11 at 4pm. For this event, all proceeds from ticket sales and concessions will be donated to support Ms. Leake, one of our teachers who recently suffered a life altering injury that has greatly impacted her family. We look forward to kicking off our season while also supporting a fellow member of our tribe. See below for the WMS 2024 Basketball schedule.

Wentzville Middle School Fall MRA Results
Our school's Measurable Results Survey (MRA) data is in! Thank you to our families, staff, and students for participating in this survey. Inclement Weather & AMI (Alternative Methods of Instruction) Update
As we approach the colder months, we want to re-share the District communication that has information regarding the WSD's inclement weather procedures for the 2024-25 school year. This year, snow days one and two will be traditional snow days. After our second snow day this year, we will switch to AMI (alternative methods of instruction) for snow days three through seven. Read more on what to expect this winter here. View district AMI assignments here.
For Middle School Students:
On the morning of an AMI day, an email will be sent to students and parent(s)/guardian(s) by 8:30 am. Assignments will be posted to the classroom Canvas page. Canvas and other resources can be accessed via ClassLink here. Various methods for assignment completion will be available. Information will include assignment details, completion dates, and what to do in the event a student needs assistance.
Teachers will be available to respond to all parent and student questions during school hours on an AMI day.
Assignments should be submitted on the AMI day or the next in-person attendance day. If work is not submitted, it will result in an absence for the student.
Wentzville WOW Factor Award
Has your child's teacher made a significant impact on their education and life? Do you want to recognize a staff member who goes above and beyond? The WSD rolled out a new way to honor our staff, and it only takes a few minutes to do. Nominate a teacher or employee for a Wentzville Wow Factor Award anytime throughout the school year to let them know they are making a difference! Nominate a Staff Member.
Outside Agency Presentations
Throughout the duration of the academic year, the Wentzville School District partners with community agencies that specialize in providing students, families, and educators with preventative education. Agency presenters are credentialed, coordinated through the District, and under the supervision of building administrators. Presentation topics are targeted toward specific grade levels. All students will participate in each program unless you choose to opt your child out of the lesson(s). If you are interested in opting your student(s) out of the presentation(s), please click the appropriate link(s) below.
If you have additional questions, please reach out directly to your student’s guidance counselor.
