Birthday Book Club

Would you like to celebrate your child's birthday in a special way? He or she can select a book from our collection and donate it to the library. The cost to join the Birthday Book Club is $10.

Specialist Spotlight - CounSEL with Mrs. Haynes

In CounSEL our 6th Graders have been completing lessons in preparation for Outdoor Ed. Our focus has been on skills that will be important for them to use while they are at Outdoor Ed including teamwork, leadership, and empathy. Book Fair Week is right around the corner! Watch for the flyer and newsletter coming home this week. If you would like to volunteer to help with the Book Fair please visit this link. Sale dates are November 13th-15th. Family Night with the Pancake Man is Nov. 15th!

Specialist Spotlight - Library with Mrs. Pitman

STEM Week!

It is STEM week in the library!!! Our students have had a great week of exploring and problem solving while using a variety of robots.

Kindergarten & 1st Grade

Kindergarten and 1st grade students worked with Bee-Bots. They had to give their bot directions in order to solve a task. Some tasks included collecting candy gems, drawing a fall picture, and coding with sequence order through a pumpkin patch.

2nd Grade

2nd graders enjoyed a “Fall Festival” of activities with their Dash robots. They programmed their robot to travel through a pumpkin patch obstacle course, counted candy cups using multiples of 10, played hide-and-seek in a Haunted House by adding lights and sounds, and recorded sounds to go trick-or-treating - of course making sure their robot finished their program by saying “thank you!"

3rd Grade

3rd Grade used KUBO robots to create a Halloween story while practicing some mapping skills. They programmed their robots to follow directions, locate coordinates on a map, and build a mapping program.

4th Grade

4th grade students used Dash robots to “trick-or-treat”. Students used a maze to create a neighborhood of houses where they stopped at each one to collect their candy. They had to add lights and sounds to their adventure, while using measurement skills to follow the path through the neighborhood.

5th & 6th Grade

5th and 6th grade classes worked with our new LUMA bots. These bots have a variety of functions that students began exploring where they become the problem solvers.
