MPVA Weekly Update
February 26 - 1 ,2024
Dear Parents and Students,
We have two full weeks of activities, performances, and athletic events before Spring Break arrives. This is the part of the year that seems to accelerate and fly by as we near the end of the school year.
A quick word about tutorials; If you receive an email and/or a permission slip to attend tutorials, this means that your child has been identified as a student in need of extra support and help. Our shared goal is to make sure your child is academically prepared to pass all their STAAR tests this year which is an indicator that they are academically prepared to go on to the next grade level. Thank you in advance for making sure to get your students to their assigned tutorials.
As always, thank you for your continued support of all things MPVA!
Respectfully,
Mr. Sarabia
Academics are the mind of our school. Athletics are the heart of our school. Arts are the soul of our school. #WeAreMPVA
MPVA Updates
Visitors Window
Just a friendly reminder that, in an effort to avoid classroom disruptions, we kindly request that parents refrain from dropping off lunch, including outside food such as Chick-fil-A, McDonald's and etc. at the Visitor's Window during school hours. We encourage you to send your students with their lunches in the mornings or allow them to participate in the free HISD hot lunch provided in the cafeteria.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in creating a smooth learning environment.
GT Update
Parents and students: the GT project deadline has been pushed back until March 6th. Please continue to work on your projects and be ready to submit to your mentor on March 6th.

KONA ICE FRIDAY
Amazingly, next Friday is the first Friday in MARCH, so you know what that means... KONA ICE FRIDAY! Cool treats range from $4-$7, so send those dollars. Also, we still need a few volunteers to help mind the lines for March, April, and May. It's one Friday per month for about an hour after school. We want to keep this fun monthly treat, so please use the link to sign up: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F4AA5AF2EA7F9C16-46018609-kona?fbclid=IwAR0QZ4B4u-LDPM2pQU-mpymJRUFFj_NL0TYX1B-ZkLhNhKagAQlxqJlyjPk#/

WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We are in need of adult volunteers to help mind the lines during Kona Ice Spirit Days on the first Friday of the month. We have a few more this year and really want to be able to keep this fun treat, so please sign up if you can.
8th Grade Parents
The School Choice portal is now open, and we know many are figuring out where your children will attend high school. If you have questions about the process, much can be learned by following the HISD Magnet Parents Forum on Facebook.
The new donation portal for 8th grade events is being finalized and will be shared out shortly, along with dates of all activities. Please note that all money given online in support of 8th Grade Events will go through the PTO website, NOT SchoolPay.
