Cougar Paw Print
10-7-19
Good Morning to everyone
I have an update on my surgery, I will be having surgery on this Thursday, and will be in the hosp. for a few days, then I get to come home, (hopefully by Saturday maybe even Friday night) and rest.... I have a follow up on October 24th, and then I'll know more about how everything is healing and a time frame to return. I promise to heal, take it easy, and be back strong for you all. I am staying optimistically strong, but realistic at the same time. I know many of you have shared your kind word for me to take it easy, and I appreciate that!! I know you will all help out, step up, lead, and support one another while I am out too. I have to say, I'm going to miss you all!! Please send me pictures of you guys, the kids, celebrations, etc!! I would love that, as Christmas movies, and HGTV will only get me through the day so far...... I will miss you is an understatement!!
We have a sub for me, his name is Clark Funk, he is a p.e. teacher at ACYI, and has his administrative certificate. He will be stepping in for me from Friday until I get back. One of his sole purposes is to support you, share positives with you, and support our students. If you need anything he is there for you!! He will be at our school with us today, and meeting with each team with me, when we do our common prep meetings. He will fulfill my calendar just as I would, so IEP meetings, etc. will still be scheduled the same way, etc.
I have heard great things about Clark, and I know you all will warmly welcome him too!!
I will try to keep the Cougar Paw Print going from home, weekly, along with items for faculty meetings that come up as questions, so if you have concerns, questions, etc. please utilize the resources and fill out the questions form, text, or email me and I'll add it to the discussion items on the agendas as needed. This will all be shared with Mr. funk too...
Have a great week everyone, and good luck with PTC!! Remember no faculty meeting this week either :)) PTC go from 3:15-6:45 p.m. (this is the time you need to stay until) for Wednesday and Thursday. Good luck, and you got this!! - Hugs, Corynn

CHEER FOR A PEER
https://forms.gle/qYqmJYptbNcwWVDx7
This weeks Cheer for a Peer goes to--- Kellie Garrison.
Kellie has taken on the opportunity to teach the new SEL curriculum in the classrooms for the last few weeks. This was hard. It was hard to work into a new schedule, hard to get around to all the rooms, she is a floating teacher with this, and hard to figure out supports along with meeting the other students needs throughout the day. But, you know what?? She did it!! and she did it with a smile on her face! Kellie had a great PD for us last week, and set herself out there to be vulnerable, seeking opportunities to go along on home visits, and such too. Kellie taught over 22 SEL lessons last week. This shout out is for her courage, determination, and her positivity to help us all, along with her dedication to helping students too.
Thank you Kellie!!
Congratualtions to our Pineapple award winners: Standing Tall and Being Sweet on the Inside!!

Help for Billy Book PD
Help for Billy- Reaching student who do not fit into the regular peg mold. Being a trama-informed school and district, requires us to view things a little differently than traditional model of situations and consequences. So many of our students are coming to us today with ACES, and emotions that are hard to process. Our book study Help For Billy will help give us an understanding of "why", and how to work with students in a different way. I'm excited to do this book study with you all, and can't wait to discuss how to help and meet our students needs.
With the harder students we have had lately, even our new students,,, I was talking the other day with a teacher as we were processing a students behavior and needs.... I told her, "The one thing I do know, and I know we do well, is love them!!" We love the heck out of these students, because that's the very thing they need, and I know that's the very thing we are good at as a school!! We know how to love our students, give them supports, boundaries, compassion, expectations, and celebrations. And that my friends, is LOVE!!
Don't forget our OT sensory room (very northern portable- shared on group me) for a student who might need to re-regulate or even for any of us who need a moment to breathe.... Go check it out!! :)
