New This Week!
Rainy Weather Update
Rainfall is expected to begin tomorrow and increase on Thursday with scattered showers through the end of the week. Los Angeles Unified will closely monitor conditions at all schools. All schools will remain open for instruction. We will be in direct contact with families if schools are affected.
As part of our preparation, school staff has walked the campus to identify any areas that may be impacted by rain and taken appropriate next steps. We will modify our planned schedule as appropriate, including canceling or rescheduling outdoor activities.
We will open both gates for student drop off during the rainy days this week. Students can be dropped off on Tyler St or on Borden. Please pull all the way to the sidewalk to drop off students and do not block the road.
The safety of our students, employees, and school communities remains our top priority. We urge everyone to continue to be careful and cautious and to allow extra time for your commute and use extreme caution when driving to school. As an additional reminder, please ensure your child wears appropriate clothing, including warm jackets and water durable shoes. Please do not send students to school with blankets.
We appreciate everyone’s continued flexibility and patience throughout this week. As always, if you have any questions, please contact the school at 818-833-3900.
Valentine's Day on Friday 2/14/2025
Please be reminded that safety and instruction are our first priorities. Students should not bring items to school that will be distraction to the school day or can be considered unsafe. Students that have balloons will be asked to leave the balloons in the office until the end of the day.
Food and other items should not be delivered to school during class hours. Anything delivered during the day will be held in the office until after 3:20 pm.
Important changes to be aware of:
Changes in pick up from after school program:
To ensure the safe pick up students by authorized adult guardians or caregivers, the LACC after school program staff will only release students to a parent/guardian with a physical identification card.
Please be sure to have your ID ready when you come to pick up your student from the after school program. This is entirely for the safety of the students and their families. If you hav any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mrs. Mayra at 213-458-6385.
Phone holders to be distributed next week starting on February 19, 2025
All students that bring cellphones, air pods, smart watches, and any other smart device to school will be provided a pouch to store those devices. In alignment with LAUSD policy, students need to lock up their 'smart' devices or leave them at home during the school day. Students will be issued a pouch that they are responsible for bringing to school daily to store their items. Replacement for lost or damaged pouches will be $30 per pouch. Students that don't bring their pouch or refuse to store away their electronic devices will need to leave those devices in the offie for the first offense. For the second offense, the device will be kept in the office until a parent or guardian picks it up.
