Falcon's Nest
Alcova Elementary School
August 30, 2024
As we wrap up the first month of the school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible start we’ve had this year as we focus on making a positive IMPACT on each student at Alcova.
From the very first day, it was clear that our students came back energized, curious, and ready to learn. It’s been wonderful to see classrooms buzzing with activity, students collaborating on projects, and our teachers bringing lessons to life in creative and impactful ways. The excitement in the hallways is contagious, and I’m proud of how everyone has embraced the new year with enthusiasm.
One of our main goals this year is to strengthen the connections within our school community. In the past month, we’ve had several opportunities to do just that. Our Open House and Curriculum nights were a great success, with many families joining us to meet teachers, tour the school, and learn about the exciting plans for the year ahead. It was heartwarming to see so many familiar faces and to welcome new families into our community.
Academically, we’ve hit the ground running. Teachers have been working hard to assess where students are and to tailor instruction to meet their needs. We’ve already seen significant progress, and we’re committed to ensuring that every student continues to grow and thrive. I encourage you to stay engaged with your child’s learning—ask about their day, review homework together, and don’t hesitate to reach out to their teachers if you have any questions or concerns.
As we move into September, we’re excited about the events and activities planned. Please mark your calendars for our upcoming events. These gatherings are wonderful opportunities to connect with other families, engage with the school, and continue building a strong community that supports our students.

EES Student Wellness Screener
What is this screener? The EES Wellness Screener, for students in grades 3-12, will provide our school and district staff with valuable data about the academic, social, and emotional needs of students.
Why is my child taking this screener? The results will be used to identify students needing additional support in the areas of Academic Behaviors, Social Behaviors, and Emotional Behaviors. The 22-item screener should take students less than 10 minutes to complete.
When is my child taking this screener? Alcova's third, fourth, and fifth-grade students will take the screener starting Wednesday, September 4th.
