COCHRAN'S SKI AND RIDE PROGRAM
Looking for the next generation of Volunteers for the Cochran’s Ski & Ride Program!
Are you interested in continuing the 1st-5th grade Cochran’s ski program? Kindergarteners can join if accompanied by an adult.
We need adult volunteers to help organize and run the program for about 50 students.
Volunteers needed:
Bus Riders- 3 parents who will meet at HCS on all 6 ski & ride program days at 2:15 to ride to Cochrans and back to HCS from the mountain at 5:30.
- Equipment Transportation- 1 or 2 parents (only need 1 for each program day, so if there are 2 volunteers, they can trade on and off) who will meet families for equipment drop-off in the lower parking lot from 7:30-8:10 am, then transport all ski equipment to Cochran’s after school to meet the bus on the mountain at 2:50 pm. At the end of the program at 4:45 pm, all equipment will be returned to their truck to be transported back to HCS for family pick up.
Group Leaders- 8 parents who can attend all 6 ski & ride program days and lead about 5-8 children. Parents would need to arrive at Cochran’s to meet the bus at 2:50.
The proposed program dates are Thursdays - Jan 9th, Jan 16th, Jan 23rd, Jan 25th, Jan 30th, Feb 6th, and Feb 13th.
This program can’t happen without volunteers! If interested please email Laura Edling at lauramatti7@gmail.com by Sunday, November 24th (however, sooner is welcome!).
THANK YOU TO PiE!
Thank you to PiE for donating $1,000.00 in support of our school families. These funds will go toward gift cards to provide flexible assistance for families throughout the year.
CVSD SEPAC LAUNCH
Last spring, the CVSD Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) was formally launched. Many thanks to the parent members who helped to form this collaborative group. CVSD’s SEPAC is currently made up of a dedicated group of parents and administrators and is open to all; please spread the word! For more information or to join, please contact Erin Bingham at Bingham.erin@gmail.com
The mission of the Champlain Valley Union School District Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is to facilitate authentic and effective communication, understanding, and mutual respect that is meaningfully inclusive of all students, caregivers, educators, administrators, school board members, and the community at large to guide the school district in providing access to and delivery of high-quality equitable services and instruction for students who qualify for additional support.

PLEASE DONATE YOUR OLD, PRESCRIPTION GLASSES TO THOSE IN NEED - DROP BOX AT HCS
HOW CAN I DONATE OLD, USED GLASSES TO THOSE IN NEED?
HCS has a collection box for used, prescription glasses in the office. If you have any old glasses that you no longer need, please drop them off and we will make sure they get to the Vermont Lions Club where they will be cleaned, categorized by prescription and prepared for distribution during organized special missions to developing countries.
HOW DO THE GLASSES REACH THOSE IN NEED?
Lions and other groups organize teams of eye care professionals and volunteers who travel to developing countries all over the world to conduct vision screenings and dispense the glasses free of charge to children and adults with impaired vision.
WHY ARE THE GLASSES DISRIBUTED TO DEVELOPING NATIONS?
Because of legal constraints against dispensing used prescriptive devices in many areas of the United States, most recycled glasses are distributed in developing countries Please note that not all glasses can be reused. Those that can't are sold for their base materials and the funds earned are used by the Lions Club to fund the LERC. Nothing goes to waste!
