A Note from the Principal
Dear Lovin Families,
Happy October! The first two months of school have flown by, and we’re thrilled with the energy and enthusiasm our students have shown. As we enter the fall season, I’d like to remind you of a few important updates:
- Parent-Teacher Conferences: Conferences will be held on 10/23 (Wednesday) and 10/24 (Thursday), and we encourage you to schedule a meeting with your child’s teacher to discuss their progress.
- Fall Events: Keep an eye out for details about our upcoming fall celebrations and activities. We love seeing families get involved, and these events are a great way to connect with our school community:
- Pastries with the Principal - 10/15 at 7:00 am
- Lovin Literacy Night - 10/17 at 5:30 pm
- Lovin PTA Trunk or Treat - 10/26 at 5:00 pm
- Classroom Highlights: Our teachers have been working hard to create exciting, engaging lessons. Ask your child about what they’ve been learning—we are seeing great growth and enthusiasm across all grade levels!
Finally, we are excited to welcome Mr. Gregory Jackson to our school community as he embarks on an important step in his journey to becoming a principal. For the next month, Mr. Jackson will be shadowing me, gaining valuable insights and experiences that will help him as he prepares for his new leadership role. We are thrilled to have him with us and encourage everyone to extend a warm welcome, offer support, and share any advice or insights to help make this experience enriching for him. We look forward to working alongside him during his time here!
Educationally yours,
Kevin Payne
October is National Principals Month
Please Welcome to Lovin ES
Greetings Lovin Community,
I am Greg Jackson, an Aspiring Principal candidate, and I am so happy to have the opportunity to shadow Mr. Payne here at Lovin! After 19 years in GCPS, I have had the opportunity to work as a middle and high school teacher and the past 8 years as an elementary assistant principal. Throughout the many years, I have worked with students in GCPS, I always see great things happening in all our schools, but it has been amazing to see how the wonderful Lovin students engage with their fellow students and teachers! I am looking forward to spending the next month here at Lovin ES!
I am indeed, loving it at Lovin!

Lovin's Assessment Office
As we approach the fall break, we want to keep you informed about an important upcoming event: our Semester One District Interim Testing. Students in Grades 3-5 will take this assessment in the key subjects of math, science, and social studies. Each grade has selected three days for testing:
3rd grade: October 15, 16 and 17
4th Grade: October 18, 21 and 22
5th Grade: October 8, 17 and 22
Our teachers and students have been working diligently to prepare for these formative assessments. We encourage you to support your child by ensuring they get plenty of rest and approach each assessment with confidence. This is a valuable opportunity for students to demonstrate their understanding of the material and for teachers to assess progress to inform future instruction.
Thank you for your ongoing support in helping our students succeed!
Warm regards,
Dionne Johnson (Lovin's Very Proud Test Coordinator)

These students will go to the gym during specials for a fun fall-themed guided drawing. Students are encouraged to bring their favorite snack and their water bottles to enjoy as they draw. We look forward to recognizing and rewarding our students for showing their TIGER Traits!
