March 2024 Newsletter
Message from Principal Lisa Langford
March is here and spring is in the air! We can feel the warm weather is coming! Make sure your child brings a water bottle to school each day to stay hydrated.
In March we also begin our season of testing! We will have our 3rd quarter benchmark tests and our state test the Arizona Academic Standards Assessment (AASA) will begin. These tests are for students to share everything they have learned this year and are important for us as a school to show how much learning as taken place this year. Here are ways you can help with testing.
- Make sure your child is rested and eats a good breakfast for each testing day.
- Encourage your child to do their best on the test.
- Remind your child that they are loved and cared for no matter how they do on the test.
We also get to enjoy a nice Spring Break this month. We hope that your family is able to rest and recharge during this time.

OMA Gold News
As usual, things in OMA classes are very busy!
We have been working hard on grade level specific science units, and tying them to various elements of the arts. Our third grade students are also becoming very proficient with playing their recorders
We had a visit from Ms. Alexis, a teaching artist with the Museum of Contemporary Art. Students create art based on poetry inspired by their favorite place. I was so impressed with the level of creativity displayed.
Our kindergarten and first grade students went on a field trip to Sabino High School. We rode on a school bus, and they watched dramatic presentations of some of their favorite stories. Some of our students even got to perform on stage with the high school actors!
This month we will be busy working on our final arts presentations for the year. Each grade will choose an art form that expresses what they are working on in science.
Don’t forget to ask your students what they are learning about in OMA, and to look for this month’s Featured Artists’ work in the main hallway!
