Volunteers needed on Saturday, May 25th 8-12 (rain or shine) for our NEF School Pollinator Garden.

The NEF (Newburyport Education Foundation) has generously funded the materials for the beds/soil and the purchase of pollinator plants for all classes to plant in their grade level bed. We need you to help build/fill the bed for your child’s grade.

CORI Process

• All volunteers must have an up-to-date CORI on file with the Newburyport Elementary Schools.

• Bring the completed CORI form along with your driver's license to the Administrative Assistant at our school office.

• Please note CORI's are only valid for three years; after that you must reapply.

Fingerprinting

In keeping with Newburyport's continued focus on safety, volunteers/parents are required to be fingerprinted in two instances:

1. If you are going on a day or overnight field trip and will have direct and unmonitored contact with children;

2. If you are a lunchroom volunteer and will be bringing children out to the playground. Parents who volunteer in the classroom DO NOT need to be fingerprinted, if there will always be another adult present.

Massachusetts has contracted with MorphoTrust for fingerprinting. To book an appointment, visit the Massachusetts IdentoGO Website.

Please be aware there is a $35 fee for fingerprinting. Fingerprinting does not expire.

Registration for the 2024-2025 academic year begins February 1, 2024. There is no deadline for public kindergarten. Please submit your registration at your earliest convenience.

All grade 3 students will experience the Artist in Residence during their Visual Art classes the week of April 29-May 3 via grant from NEF and Mrs. Jamison. Students will be guided to learn this mindfulness technique from zentangle master artist Kim Salathe.

Teacher Appreciation Week is next week, May 6th- May 10th. The PTO has planned a week of activities to celebrate our teachers and staff. This includes a staff breakfast, classroom supply drive, chair massages, and more.

The PTO Meeting is now scheduled for May 16th at 7:00 pm at Dew Collective located at 70 State Street.

Please join us for Walk and Roll Wednesday's Spring Kick-Off on Wednesday May 8th! Let's get out of our cars and meet up as neighbors and friends to walk, bike, or roll to school. Walking and rolling is a healthy way to start the day, it's beneficial for the environment, promotes independence and it's FUN! Join a neighborhood meet-up spot (see attached maps for locations), or make your own! Students- don't forget to sign the Walk and Roll Leaderboard when you get to school! The class with the most participation each month gets a special reward. Join us!

We are so excited to announce the dates of our second annual Mission Sox sock drive. Mission Sox is an organization that we began last year to raise awareness for clothing insecurity, beginning with the most overlooked clothing necessity, socks! We collected and donated over 1500 pairs of new socks last Spring by putting “sox boxes” around town and in the high school. We used social media and an Amazon Wishlist to spread the message but word of mouth was the biggest tool.

Our goal is to gather over 2000 pairs this year and we need your help! We hope to place sox boxes and flyers in all of the public schools as well as the public library, City Hall, the Immaculate Conception Church, and the Senior Center. We want donating to be accessible to everyone so the whole city can take part in making a difference by helping people struggling with clothing insecurity and/or homelessness.

This will be starting on April 9th, the Red Sox home opener, and finishing on May 9th. Keep an eye out and spread the word!
