Roadrunner Ramp Weekly
News from Arbor View Elementary School: 8/16/24
Weekly review and upcoming information
From Principal McCray
We are counting down the days until we see our students again. School starts on the 21st. Included in this newsletter are several tidbits to help with arrival, dismissal and other pertinent information.
As a friendly reminder, we ask that families stay in their cars during drop off and pick up on the first day of school. If you would like to take pictures, please park your car and to capture the moment so that we don't hold up the traffic flow. Here's to a wonderful 24-25 School Year.
Let's go Roadrunners!
Popsicles with the Principal
I want to send a shout out to the families that were able to come for this event. It was great to see our families so excited. Here are a couple of pictures.

Important health information for the 2024-25 school year
If any student will need medicine at school, the medication authorization form will need to be filled out by parents/guardians and doctor each school year. It should be turned into building nurse prior to the first day of school. Parents are responsible for providing the school with any medications needed.
If a student has a food allergy or any severe allergy, there are attached surveys to be filled out, along with the medication authorization forms.
If your child has a prescription medication that they need to take at school, it needs to come in the original prescription bottle. If your child will be taking an over-the-counter medication it needs to come in the original packaging.
Please note that if the school does not receive the documents and medicine before the first day of school, the student will not be able to take the medicine at school.
If a student has asthma or seizures there is an attached action plan to fill out.
Please reach out to nurse McKenna if you have any questions.
Reminder: Keep clear of school construction areas
Access to some CCSD 89 buildings is limited this summer due to the ongoing construction projects. You can see a list of scheduled and completed construction here: www.ccsd89.org/24construction
Families should avoid the school’s playground equipment when construction crews are actively working at the school. At the end of the summer, crews may also be at the buildings on weekends. Read more: https://bit.ly/3vht66D

Know which health forms your student needs
Students entering preschool, kindergarten or sixth grade, as well as students who are new to CCSD 89, must have a current certificate of child health exam and updated immunization record on file. All Illinois children entering kindergarten, second, and sixth grades are required to have a dental exam. An eye exam is required for children enrolling in kindergarten and students new to Illinois. Additionally, any Glen Crest students who want to try out for athletics have a pre-participation form filled out by a doctor. Tragedy can affect a nation or a single family. Some crises happen suddenly while others build over time. Each situation can be difficult for children to understand and challenging for families to navigate. Our school has a counselor, social worker, and psychologist available to help students and families with strategies for transparent, age-appropriate conversations.
