Dear Middle School Families,
As we approach the end of the school year, I want to take a moment to express my appreciation for your continued support throughout this school year. With just a few weeks left, let's be sure to finish the year on a high note!
Please help me by encouraging exemplary behavior while your student is at school. It not only benefits your student(s) individually, but also contributes to a more cohesive and productive educational community.
Here are a few gentle reminders to help us finish the year with great behavior:
Respect and Kindness: Remind your child of the importance of treating their peers, teachers, and staff with respect and kindness. Small gestures of kindness can have a big impact!
Responsibility: Encourage your child to take responsibility for their actions and academic responsibilities. Completing assignments on time and being accountable fosters a sense of achievement and maturity.
Positive Attitude: Emphasize the power of a positive attitude! Encourage your child to approach each day with optimism and a willingness to learn and grow.
Good Communication: Encourage open communication between you, your child, and their teachers. If any concerns arise, don't hesitate to reach out so we can address them together.
Celebrating Achievements: Let's celebrate the achievements, both big and small, of our students as we wrap up the school year. Positive reinforcement goes a long way!
We will celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week during the week of April 29th. Start thinking of a way to show appreciation to your students' teachers!

District 15 OMEA Solo and Ensemble Band Competition
On Saturday, April 13th we had 5 students from Hamilton Middle School participate in the District 15 OMEA Solo & Ensemble Band Competition at Logan Elm High School. Students perform as either a soloist or in a small group in front of a qualified adjudicator. The adjudicator provides them with priceless feedback and an overall rating on their performance. All Hamilton Middle School students received the highest rating (Superior) and earned a medal.

Race for the Cure
The Middle School is participating an AIM Race for the Cure competition!
- The AIM with the most registration forms turned in by Friday, April 26th will be the winning class.
- Students can turn in forms for friends and family…every registration will count towards your AIM total!
- Every student (and teacher) from the AIM that turns in the most registrations by Friday will receive:
- Dilly Bar or Ice Cream Sandwich from Obetz Dairy Queen (will be delivered to your class the following week) OR
- Free Blizzard Coupon from Obetz Dairy Queen
HMS students will receive a discounted rate for this week only…HMS students only need to pay $5 this week (cash or checks made out to Komen Columbus).
- If a student turns in forms for family or friends outside of HMS, the family or friends must pay the entire registration fee.
- Even if you cannot participate on Race Day, still register and join our Race for the Cure team…you will receive a t-shirt for $5.00 if you turn in the form and money by Friday!

Yearbooks start as low as $18, but can be customized for an additional charge.
Anyone who purchases a yearbook during the month of February will be entered into a drawing for a gift card, as well as random prizes over the course of the month.
Student Reminders
1. AirPod, Earbuds, Headphones-
Students are not to be wearing any device that fits in or covers ears while walking in the hallways. This includes, but is not limited to, AirPods, earbuds and/or headphones.
These items may only be worn when directed to do so by a teacher.
2. Food/Drinks-
Students are not to have food and/or drinks in class. Food/drinks should remain closed and in lockers until lunch. You should not have snacks in the classrooms or hallways.
Students are only permitted to have water throughout the day.
3. Hoodies-
If students choose to wear a hoodie in the building, the hood MUST REMAIN down. Students who are repeatedly told to take their hood down will be banned from wearing hoodies at school.
4. Blankets, Snuggies, Comfy Sweatshirts-
All blankets and blanket type items are to be left at home. This includes Snuggies and the Comfy hoodies.
Dismissal Reminders
Please make sure your child knows of their transportation arrangements each day. If a change needs to be made, please contact the school BEFORE 2:00 so we can get the message to your child. Contacting the school after 2:00 does not guarantee that your child will get the message.
Car Rider Reminders
1. Car riders should exit the building using the front doors.
2. Students should enter the vehicle once it has pulled up to the sidewalk area. If you do not see your student, please continue to move forward so we can keep the line moving.
3. Students should not be walking across the parking lot or the grassy area to get to a car that is not yet to the sidewalk. This causes a significant safety concern!
4. Drivers, please drive slowly, follow the flow of traffic and be patient!
Student safety is of utmost importance! Please help us keep our students safe by following these guidelines.
