ATHLETICS
Student Athlete Profile
Andre Romo 10th and Samuel Reeves 10th
How long have you been playing football?
Andre: My first year was in 7th grade and I played Pop Warner. I really played everywhere…guard, defensive tackle, linebacker, and even kicker. But I liked playing linebacker the most.
Samuel: I’ve been playing since I was 6 years old, man that a long time ago (laughs). I played flag when I was little, then Pop Warner also, now at the high school level. I’m mostly a running and a defensive back right now.
What is your favorite football memory so far?
Andre: When I was a little kid playing Pop Warner, I kicked a field goal to go into overtime. I was super nervous.
Samuel: I remember that (laughing), I was holding the ball. Ha !!!
Samuel: For me when I was 8 years old playing Pop Warner, we went undefeated and also won the championship that year.
What are your plans for after high school ?
Samuel: After high school, I want to go to collage and major in something related to the medical field. I’ve always wanted to help people and the pay is really good. My dream college though is USC.
Andre: I want to go college also, but I’m still trying to figure out my area of interest. As far as college goes, I want to stay somewhat local.
Who is your favorite teacher?
Samuel: Probably Ms. Nguyen. She is really understanding and you can tell she tries to get to know her students. Also she is a great teacher, she explains the concepts and points me in the right directions.
Andre: Mr. Parra, he helps us a lot, he goes out of his way to help you out. Also he was my dad’s football coach when my dad played football at JGHS.
