Student of the Month Assembly
Our December assembly was packed full of fun focusing on two traits: November for Teachable and December for Kindness. In addition, we had Christmas festivities included in the assembly to make it unforgettable with games and activities that had students facing off against other students along with staff members against each other. There were lots of laughs and so many memories made.

Kindess Club
The club was started last year as an idea and formed into a club for fifth graders, one or two per homeroom. Many of those same students still participate as sixth graders. Mrs. Clark reached out to fifth grade teachers for nominations of a few students who consistently exhibited the trait of kindness, and now they are learning the ropes to continue the club going forward.
Some of the things the group does in meetings is work on projects and talk about ways to show kindness to teachers and staff, volunteers, fellow students, and the community. The members meet twice a month unless they are super busy working on a project like the one they just did - an ornament filled with kind statements by the students in each homeroom teacher's class. Kindness Club members delivered these Kindness Ornaments to their teachers on the last day before break. Some of the reactions were, "Thank you so much for such a sweet ornament! Just a perfect end to a great day!" and "LOVE it, thank you for doing this!" as well as "This was incredibly sweet! What a wonderful example of kindness!" and others.

Choir Concert
Our OMS choir recently performed a vibrant and memorable concert that showcased the hard work and talent of our students. They even featured a variety of musical pieces that were performed with great enthusiasm and skill. The choir students, under the direction of Mrs. Harmon, practiced diligently for weeks to perfect their vocal techniques and it paid off.
Giving Tree
Our building and OMS Student Council collected gifts again this year for Century Pines Nursing Home. Our OMS Families brought in over 130 gifts.
The activities coordinator at Century Pines collects the wish list from the residents. Some gifts include lip gloss, baseball caps, sweatshirts, warm blankets, coloring books, Reese’s peanut butter cups, and one sweet man asked for a bird feeder.

Lost and Found
Is your child missing an item? We encourage you to remind your child to check the Lost and Found for any missing items. Over the semester, we have accumulated a variety of clothing, water bottles, and other personal belongings. Our Lost and Found is located in the cafeteria and students can check it at lunch or by asking a teacher during class time. Lost items that are not picked up by the end of January will be donated to a local nonprofit organization.
