FEBRUARY 21, 2024 - NEWSLETTER
SLPHS families,
Last weekend, I watched some or our amazing female athletes at state tournament events. Our Dance team competed at the state tournament in Jazz and Kick. They performed very well, and as a retired “Dance Dad,” I was glad to share the experience with our dance families. Our girls hockey team played well last Friday in the section finals, but just missed the opportunity to advance. It is great to see so many female athletes modeling high levels of achievement athletically and academically.
Panthers for a Purpose Week of Giving has arrived! There are ways for everyone to get involved. We have another week of fun spirit days. There’s an online auction and there’s still time to dine to donate this week. I have always appreciated the variety of support our Panther Foundation offers our students and families, and I hope you will join me in getting involved in the Panthers for a Purpose Week of Giving.
Finally, please watch for the monthly pulse check tomorrow from Possip. Thanks for sharing your experiences. We review every single comment. It’s always fun to share praise comments with staff, and your questions and concerns help us in our planning and next steps.
Thank you as always for your ongoing support and partnership. One school, one community #SLPPantherProud!
Together we build bright futures!
Matthew Boucher
Principal

Co-Created Humanities Projects
Students took over the C wing flex space to present progress updates to their peers on their co-created humanities projects. Students work with a teacher to create their learning for core or elective credits. One student is working with business competencies, another with fine arts, another with career and life skills. From business plans and networking insights to music creation and app and game development, this crew is learning while doing work aligned to their passions and interests.
Winona College Visit
Exploring options! High school students recently had the opportunity to tour Winona's college campus and learn more about their potential future paths.
High School Registration: What's next
Registration for the 2024-2025 school year closed last Friday. While this initial registration window is closed, we still have a few checkpoints before next year:
- Week of March 18: A confirmation of course choices for 2024-2025 is sent to homes. Students and families can check the choices and make adjustments as needed.
- May: School visits and tours. 8th graders will have the chance to visit the high school and interact with high school mentors to learn more about the transition to 9th grade.
- August: Students receive their final schedules. This usually happens the week before school begins at a Meet and Greet event at the high school.
If your family has any questions, please reach out to your student's counselor.
