March 2024
Dear Valley View families,
We are very excited to begin our ELPAC testing this month. Please see below for more details. We are also entering the last few months of our 2023-2024 school year. We have many activities planned such as our Spring Festival and Cultural Fair on 3/15/24. We will continue with more activities after Spring Break. We do appreciate all the support from our community and want to continue encouraging everyone to join our PTO and become members. We are excited about recruiting PTO Board Members for 2024-2025 school year PTO. Once again thank you for all your support!
Sincerely,

Attendance 2023-2024
Help Us Improve Our Attendance
As we begin the second half of the 2023-2024 school year, we appreciate your support in bringing students to school everyday on time. We would like to share some of our chronic absenteeism data for the first half of the school year. First, let's define chronic absenteeism.
Chronic Absenteeism: missing 10% or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions.
There are 180 days of school every year. There have been 84 days of school up to our December break. If your student has missed 9 or more days of school, they are currently chronically absent. To help improve their attendance, let's work together this second half of the school year to get them to school on time and everyday. Below you will see chronic absenteeism data for our school and each grade level. You will also see some infographics on why attendance is important.
Thank you for your collaboration. Please feel free to reach out if you need support on improving your student's attendance.
Construction at Valley View
1/29/24-5/31/24
Dear families,
AUSD is beginning the first phase of our schools' renovations. As you may have seen this week, the area in front of our MPR is under construction. In addition to some landscaping improvements, Valley View will also get new fencing around the right side of our school that leads to the back, new playgrounds in our TK/Kinder area and general playground, cameras around campus, and a new PA system. In the next couple of months, our front parking lot will also undergo some renovations and will be repainted.
Our school has already began the work during non-school hours, and now it will begin during school hours except at arrival and dismissal times. In order to to maintain our students, staff, and community safe, please collaborate with our school in:
- using the crossing guard
- arriving a few minutes earlier at arrival and dismissal
- driving cautiously in our parking lot especially when it's raining
- maintaining younger students, toddlers, and infants in close proximity especially around gated construction zones
We greatly appreciate your support,
Valley View Elementary School
