Wow—it's hard to believe how quickly the days are flying by as we enter the final month of the 2024-25 school year! It has been a wonderful year of learning, growth, and community, and we have many exciting events ahead as we celebrate all that our students have accomplished.
As we enjoy this special time, I want to remind our students to continue showing Godwin PRIDE in everything they do. Whether it's in the classroom, on field trips, or during end-of-year activities, let’s all stay focused, finish strong, and reflect the growth we’ve seen in both district and state testing. This last month is an opportunity to shine—both academically and behaviorally.
A quick reminder: as the weather warms up, please help us ensure students follow the school dress code. Shorts must be an appropriate length, and midriffs should remain covered during the school day.
Thank you for your continued partnership in your child’s education. Let’s finish the year on a high note—together!

A Triumphant Band
Last Wednesday, the high school band [which includes a number of middle schoolers as well] performed at the State Band and Orchestra Festival and received a 1st division rating! The students worked really hard to achieve this and are thrilled with the results.
Last weekend, four of our middle school students represented Godwin Heights at the state-level National History Day competition at Central Michigan University. While none advanced to the national competition, their determination and passion shone brightly. As Patrick enthusiastically put it, "Looking forward to running it back next year!" Congratulations to these young historians for their incredible effort and hard work!

Daily Tutoring
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We appreciate your continued support of our after-school tutoring program as we work to provide additional academic support for our students. We wanted to share a few important updates regarding the program:
- Permanent Tutoring List: We are currently utilizing 88% of our available tutoring space. To ensure we are prioritizing students who need the most support, we will begin removing students from the permanent list if they have Cs or higher in all their classes. Additionally, moving forward, any student added to the permanent list must be approved by the course proficiency team.
- Daily Sign-Ups Still Available: All students will still have the opportunity to sign up for tutoring during advisory each day if space is available.
- Attendance Expectations: To ensure students receive the full benefit of tutoring, we ask that they arrive on time and stay for the full session unless previously arranged.
- Pick-Up Procedures: Students will be released from tutoring classrooms at 3:15pm. Please plan to pick up students near the main office entrance off of Wexford.
- Please remind your student to bring necessary materials, including assignments or classwork they may need help with.
- If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to durga@godwinschools.org or kathryn.golden@godwinschools.org.
Thank you for your partnership in supporting student success!

TEAM 21 Highlight: Exploring Science!
We dissected cow eyes to illustrate how eyes work, including how light bends to create images. Cow eyes are similar in structure and function to human eyes, making them a good model for dissection and study. The dissection allows visitors to explore the external and internal anatomy, understanding how different parts contribute to vision.
