Weekly Update
17th May 2024
This Week
Firstly, we must congratulate all of our Year 6 students for their positive and sensible approach to SATs week. Each and everyone of them gave their very best and they should all feel pleased with their efforts. They are now proudly showing off their new leavers hoodies and we hope you agree, they all look very smart.
All year groups from Year 1 to Year 5 have completed their PIRA reading assessments this week. The results of these assessments will be made available for you to view via Arbor by the end of next week. Should you have any queries or concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to the class teacher or contact our school office.
Brain Buddies have been working with Eagle class, supporting them in developing emotional regulation techniques. This project aims to equip students with the necessary tools to navigate the complexities of their emotions, fostering a conducive learning environment and promoting overall well-being.
We are keeping our fingers crossed that the weather is slightly kinder next week so that we can go ahead with our Sports Day on Thursday 23rd May at 1.15pm. Miss Leeks has planned the event, with a few tweaks to last year's format following feedback from children and parents. This year, there will be more track events included alongside 4 carousel activities.
Following a successful round of interviews we are pleased to inform you that we have appointed a new midday supervisor, Holly Huffee. We extend a warm welcome to Holly and look forward to working with her after half term.
We wish you and your family an enjoyable weekend.
Old Newton Art Exhibition
Every child in school has created a canvas which will be on display this weekend at the village art exhibition. Do pop along and take a look at their amazing work.
