🐾 Attendance Matters 🐾
One of the most important factors in your child's academic success is regular school attendance. Below you will find some of the reasons why attendance is so important to your child’s educational journey, along with strategies to help make sure your child gets to school each day.
- Academic Achievement: Regular attendance has a strong correlation with academic success. When students attend school consistently, they have the opportunity to engage in classroom activities, work with their peers, complete assignments, and ask for help, which leads to better academic outcomes.
- Real-World Expectations: Regular attendance prepares students for the expectations they will face in higher education and the workplace. Being punctual, present, and dependable are expectations as they enter the real world!
- Continuity of Learning: Skills and concepts build on each other each day. Missing school disrupts the continuity of learning and makes it difficult for students to grasp new concepts and stay on track. Many students feel overwhelmed after missing school because the learning has continued without them, and they now have to learn what was taught when they were gone, as well as what is being taught today.
Remember that your involvement and support are integral parts of promoting regular attendance. Thank you for your partnership in ensuring that your child's education is a priority.

🐾 Keeping Organized in Middle School 🐾
As we are approaching the first midterm in the semester, we wanted to share a few tips to help students stay organized and up to date on their assignments for each class. Below are some tips to help you be more successful and organized.
- Use your daily agenda: Keeping track of everything in your head is tough, so write it down! An agenda can be your best friend. Note down homework, test dates, and other important activities.
- Declutter: A cluttered Chromebook case, backpack or locker can make it hard to find what you need. Use folders or binders to keep your papers organized by subject, and make sure your locker isn’t a black hole of forgotten assignments! Ask a staff member if you need assistance getting organized.
- Break down large tasks: Big tasks and projects can feel overwhelming, but breaking them into smaller tasks makes them more manageable. For example, if you have a big report due, you can break it down into steps: research, outline, write, and revise. Tackling one step at a time makes it less stressful.
- Avoid procrastination: We’ve all been there—putting off a task because it seems too hard or it might not interests us as much. But the longer you wait, the harder it gets! Try to start your work as soon as possible. Sometimes, just getting started is the hardest part. Once you do, you’ll feel a lot better.
- Ask for help: If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, don’t hesitate to ask for help. Whether it’s a staff member or parent/guardian, there’s always someone who can give you a hand. Staying organized doesn’t mean doing everything on your own!
